Marvill "Marvillous Beats" Lee Martin is a Bronx, New York-born violinist, music producer, and audio engineer currently located in the DC/Maryland/Virginia area. Marvillous Beats was raised in a Jamaican family with five siblings in New Rochelle, NY where he began playing violin at eight years old and producing hip-hop instrumentals at sixteen. Despite finishing college with an architecture degree in 2017, Marvill is no stranger to the music industry and has produced songs for major label recording artists such as rapper songwriter Tory Lanez. Marvillous Beats has also performed live with DMV rapper and songwriter Wale as well as on NPR Tiny Desk with rapper and songwriter Goldlink. Marv has also performed with Hip Hop Legends Slick Rick and Rakim. In this episode, Marvill shares his story of being broke in 2016 and deciding to hit the street of Silver Spring, Maryland to play his violin. In doing so, he was able to generate some buzz, earn good tips which was more than he could make at a job and he eventually was discovered by Wale's body guard "Big E". Not long after, Marv was performing on stage at a sold out Wale performance and that opened up other dope opportunites for Marvill. We talk about all of that and so much more!
