1. [17:30] It’s time for the public to have a different perspective of what policing is like, whether that’s from our perspective as wives or their perspective as being on the streets, doing things the public doesn’t see.
2. [31:00] When you remove funding from the police, you will inevitably take money away from their training.  This will impact public safety.

Today, Nicole interviews John Lyke - a close family friend of Nicole’s as well as an actor and director from Los Angeles! Together, they talk about John’s career, how it developed from a young age, and what it’s become over the years.

1. [6:58] Everything’s not as crazy as you might think or believe, you just kind of have to work at it every day
2. [30:02] Sometimes, you need to change your mindset - in a scenario where you have everything right, you still don’t feel great, it might be your frame of mind rather than anything else
3. [46:59] If you’re coming at a particular industry and fear going into it, you should still go for it regardless and overcome that anxiety, working on that fear-based mindset

John Lyke is a New England native who has balanced most of his life between filmmaking and action sports. At age thirteen, Emmy award-winning cinematographer Bruce Taylor took John under his wing, and from there, he went on to Champlain College for filmmaking, where he would graduate as valedictorian. He left his professional snowboarding career when he moved to LA to make movies.

Over his film career, he’s worked as a video editor for companies like Hulu and Netflix, been a stuntman on blockbusters like The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, and an actor in #Millenials on Direct TV and Pure Genius on CBS. Directing duo, the Daniels referenced John’s directing work as inspiration for their Sundance-winning film Swiss Army Man.

Nicole also talks with Amy Suznovich, a dear friend and previous guest on the podcast.   Together, they talk about their experience with loss, how they cope with these difficult anniversaries, and the advice they have to move forward while honoring those they have lost.

• [25:35] Sometimes, with anxiety, you have to move through it; you can't always put everything off because doing so may end up not only causing your anxiety to grow, but you might miss out on incredible moments in life.  
• [40:03] The anniversary of a loved one's passing might come and go without much fuss one year, while in other years, you may find that the anniversary hits you differently. There is no right or wrong way of coping. Finding ways to connect with those we miss might help us cope with such loss, whether doing something in their honor or just doing something for yourself.  
• [43:52 Sometimes, you just have to flounder and be okay in the messiness of everything as we grieve.  Just know that you'll come out okay in the end.
