They tore the Black Hills apart for gold, but the richest vein turned out to be the dead. This week Jeremy and Amy take you to Deadwood, South Dakota — the most haunted town in South Dakota — to kick off spooky month.
Wild Bill Hickok's last poker hand. Seth Bullock's haunted hotel. A former brothel with a ghost for every occasion. The hillside cemetery where Calamity Jane got her dying wish: buried beside Wild Bill. Plus the Bullock Hotel's room-by-room haunting dossier, the Adams House's sold-out October paranormal investigations, and Deadweird — the town's all-out Halloween party.

Before the Strip, there was Fremont Street. In this episode, Jeremy and Amy Long tell the story of Glitter Gulch — the original Las Vegas, born in a 1905 railroad land auction and raised on neon and mob money.
From the Golden Nugget and Benny Binion's Horseshoe to Vegas Vic, the 40-foot neon cowboy, we walk through the mob era, the neon canyon's fall after the Mirage, and downtown's comeback: the Fremont Street Experience canopy, Tony Hsieh's Downtown Project, Circa, and the Neon Museum's Boneyard. Plus a first-timer's guide to Fremont Street today — SlotZilla, the 99-cent shrimp cocktail, and where the locals actually drink.
Las Vegas was born on Fremont Street — not the Strip. This is the story of Glitter Gulch.

Great Basin National Park is Nevada's only national park entirely within the state — and one of the least-visited parks in the system. This week we're exploring it top to bottom: the 90-minute Grand Palace Tour inside Lehman Caves (the trip highlight, including the moment the ranger killed the lights), the Wheeler Peak Scenic Drive, 4,900-year-old bristlecone pines, and a night sky packed with thousands of stars.
We also head out beyond the park boundary: a ghost town called Osceola that got away from us down a gravel road, the Million Dollar Courthouse in Pioche.
Plus where to stay, where to eat in tiny Baker, and the case for going before everyone else figures this place out.

There are five places on Earth with the most 100-year-olds — Sardinia, Okinawa, Ikaria, Nicoya, and Loma Linda, California. They're called Blue Zones, and this week we're breaking down what the people there actually do differently, from ikigai and moai to hara hachi bu, and whether the science behind Dan Buettner's famous longevity research really holds up.
Then the uncomfortable question: can a city engineer its own Blue Zone? We look at Singapore, the Minnesota town that tried, and the five cities doing the exact opposite — including our own hometown at number one.
Plus the destinations where you can sample the Blue Zone lifestyle yourself, from San Luis Obispo to Copenhagen.

What do a 3,000-year-old Egyptian temple, the London Bridge, a 200-foot lighthouse, and an entire Swedish mining town have in common? They were all picked up and moved.
This week, Jeremy and Amy dig into the true stories behind history's most audacious relocations: how UNESCO cut Abu Simbel into massive blocks and rebuilt it on higher ground to escape the flooding of the Aswan Dam; how the London Bridge ended up spanning a channel in Lake Havasu City, Arizona; how engineers moved the 4,800-ton Cape Hatteras Lighthouse 2,900 feet inland to save it from the sea; and how Kiruna, Sweden is in the middle of a decades-long move — church, homes and all — because the ground beneath it is literally collapsing.

It wasn't long ago that traveling outside summer meant real deals, smaller crowds, and better experiences. Jeremy and Amy dig into whether shoulder season still delivers — what's changed, where the deals went, and whether the days of great off-peak travel are officially over.

It takes an awful lot for a place to become a national park — and since the 63rd was created in 2020, everyone's asking when the 64th debuts, and where. Jeremy and Amy break down the leading candidates based on current bills and legislation, the places that lost national park status over the years (we've had 67 overall!), and the spots that barely missed the cut.

Long before cold plunges and wellness retreats, Americans traveled for mineral water, mountain air, and experimental cures. Jeremy and Amy tour the original wellness destinations — Hot Springs, Saratoga Springs, and Mineral Wells, the tuberculosis retreats of Colorado and Arizona, Kellogg's bizarre Battle Creek Sanitarium, Sedona's vortex culture, and the polio rehabilitation centers of Warm Springs. What were people trying to cure, did any of it work — and what can you still visit today?
