You're more than committed at this point. You're dedicated. In this episode, Zach and Kevin sit down with UCCOM M3 Ethan Schimmoeller to talk about dedicated studying for Step 1. Ethan walks us through a daily, weekly, and overall schedule for Step 1 studying. He shares important lessons he learned, things that surprised him, and his favorite step 1 studying snack (particularly high yield).

Cleanup:
0:00- Ethan’s plan worked well for him, and we think the principles he discusses are very helpful, but no single schedule will work for everyone. The average UC student studies 10-15 hours per day during dedicated and many take off half-days instead of full days. Do whatever you are most comfortable with because you know yourself best!
14:00 – 90 secs per question on Step 1
29:00 – Micro and pharmacology are no longer the lowest performing content areas per the class of 2019 and 2020
34:00 – Ethan was not actually proud that MS was his lowest grade; we support putting your best effort forward in MS, but also support a robust Step 1 study schedule during this time as well
41:00 – you cannot bring your pet to step 1 exam; however, you can bring these items to test day if you have specific medical needs (https://www.usmle.org/test-accommodations/PIEs.html)
1:03:00 – this episode is NOT actually sponsored by Pathoma, we just really love it
