May 02, 2023The Famous Carlos Alcaraz, and the Infamous Holger RuneIn potentially our worst episode to date we discuss some of what has happened so far at the Mutua Madrid Open, this is without Fer having seen any of it due to being away and Rob not having time to prepare any notes due to work. Whilst the majority of this episode is waffle, we hope that you find some enjoyment in it. If all goes well, we should be back to normal next week.Judging by the title you will see that we were both able to discuss some of the delicious drama that took place in the clash between Holger Rune and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, and how our predictions for the Madrid Open are doing. If you listened last week, you'll defo know by now that Fer's predictions have turned out to be dreadful. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information....more34minPlay
April 25, 2023Unequal 500s, and a look ahead to MadridIn this week's episode, we round up the winners from the last week of tennis. We discuss the finals of the WTA 500 in Stuttgart, the ATP 500 in Barcelona and the two ATP 250s in Munich and Banja Luka. We discuss the lack of clay court tournaments, especially ones that better prepare for the French Open, on the WTA tour. After discussing some of what has happened in the last week, we look ahead to Madrid and of course make a couple of predictions. There is also an anecdote from Rob at the start about a tennis match that did not end too well for him. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information....more53minPlay
April 18, 2023Rublev, ranting, and hot takesOn this week's podcast we welcome back Fer from her holiday, and then discuss Rublev winning the Monte Carlo masters, whilst also touching upon some of the shenanigans that went on. Rob and Fer both rant about various topics, and we decide to end the show by sharing a few on the spot hot takes for the rest of the season. There is also mention of the recent BJK cup ties, and a brief look ahead to Stuttgart and Barcelona. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information....more54minPlay
April 11, 2023The one where we probably hadn't watched enough tennisThis week we catch-up with the Miami finals a couple of weeks back, we briefly look over the events of the last week (i.e. Estoril, Bogota, Charleston and Houston). We then briefly look ahead to the upcoming Monte-Carlo Masters. There is also discussion about some of the recent suggestions by Tiafoe, Gauff, and Pegula and changing the atmosphere and adding a bit of trash talk to the game. This was an admittedly a loosely formatted episode, but one where we introduced a new guest host to take the place of Fer whilst she is enjoying her holiday. Hosted on Acast. March 28, 2023Another out of date tennis news episodeThis week we discuss the prospect of a double sunshine double from Alcaraz and Rybakina. We discuss a frankly rather poor week for the Brits, and the hope that Andreescu showed before she picked up a devastating injury in the fourth round. Rob and Fer make predictions for who they think will win both singles events, and spoiler Rob is already wrong on one!Plus, just to note there'll likely not be an episode out next week but we should hopefully return the week after. If not we will defo be back to normal after that, refreshed and ready for the clay court swing. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information....more43minPlay
March 21, 2023BREAKING: Alcaraz and Rybakina are good at tennis. In this week's show we discuss the semi-finals and finals from the latest edition of Indian Wells. There is a rather protracted discussion about the outfit choices of some of the competitors, plus we attempt to look at the the upcoming 1000 event in Miami.Despite the technical issues we had recording, there is much less immediately out-of-date tennis news than we had last week. So fingers-crossed this episode ages a bit better. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information....more54minPlay
March 14, 2023Indian Wells pt. 1In this episode we discuss the action so far at Indian Wells. We discuss the excitement of Andy Murray winning a match in straight sets, which was then quickly dashed by a promising young Brit in Jack Draper. Other notable topics being Pegula, Medvedev, and Rob trying not to be too distracted watching Raducanu's match against Haddad-Maia whilst still trying to record. Also to note, we reached a milestone of having 100 all-time listeners in the last week. We would like to thank everyone who has listened so far and shared this with friends, we love making this podcast but we are still a little bit amazed that there are some you that continue to listen each week. March 07, 2023Daniil, The Demon, and an annoying GuitarThis week we talk about the action in Dubai, Acapulco, Austin, and Monterrey. We look ahead as far as we could at Indian Wells, bearing in mind this was recorded about half an hour before the main draw was released ffs. All of this done to the faint sound of a guitar in the background, and us having to deal with a number of annoying connection issues.Thank you for listening. Hosted on Acast.
