  • Hoovering: When the Warm Message Is a Trap

Why The Sudden Softness Isn’t Repentance & How Scripture Protects You From Being Pulled Back in.

This episode of Unshaken Faith addresses one of the most confusing and emotionally disorienting moments after narcissistic abuse: hoovering — the sudden warmth, the long message, the spiritual language, the tears, the “I’ve been thinking,” the “for the sake of the child,” the “can we talk,” the apology that names nothing. It feels like hope. It feels like closure. It feels like change. But it is a pull, not repentance.

Andi Jo explains what hoovering really is: a tactic designed to regain access after the abuser loses control, loses your reaction, or loses the audience they once had. Attack didn’t work. Silence didn’t work. So they switch tools. Kindness becomes bait. “His words were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart.” (Psalm 55:21) Soft words are not proof of a new heart. Fruit is.

This episode exposes why hoovering is deceit, not healing. It never names the wrong. It never accepts your limit. It never comes with changed conduct. It asks for private channels, late‑night talks, off‑the‑record conversations. It strokes their ego, restores their supply, and sets up the next discard. “They speak peace… while evil is in their hearts.” (Psalm 28:3)

You’ll learn how to tell the difference between repentance and a pull: • Repentance names the sin. Hoovering stays vague. • Repentance respects boundaries. Hoovering climbs over them. • Repentance continues without reward. Hoovering fades when you stay steady. • Repentance doesn’t need secrecy. Hoovering depends on it. “You will recognize them by their fruits.” (Matthew 7:16)

This episode also speaks directly to the cost of falling for the pull. When you answer “just this once,” the old bond wakes up. The confusion returns. The grief resets. The healing you worked for must begin again. “Like a dog that returns to its vomit is a fool who repeats his folly.” (Proverbs 26:11) Not to shame you — but to tell the truth about what going back does to the soul.

You’ll hear practical, biblical steps for responding when the message comes: waiting before deciding, telling one steady person, answering only what is necessary, refusing private channels, and remembering Scripture’s instruction for patterns that will not turn. “Avoid such people.” (2 Timothy 3:5) “The prudent sees danger and hides himself.” (Proverbs 22:3)

Finally, this episode offers comfort for the ache that follows: the longing for the good version, the hope that the warmth means change, the grief of what could have been. “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted.” (Psalm 34:18) The good version was often the bait. God is the one who stays.

If you’ve ever been pulled back by a sudden softness, this episode will steady you, protect you, and remind you that you can forgive without reopening the door.

  • Narcissistic Abuse and DARVO

What The Patterns Look Like & What Scripture Says When The Story is Turned on You.

A few of you reached out and asked me to talk about narcissistic abuse. I heard you.

This episode of Unshaken Faith tackles one of the most confusing and painful experiences a believer can walk through: narcissistic abuse and the DARVO pattern that often follows. With clarity, compassion, and Scripture, Andi Jo explains what this pattern looks like, why it leaves victims doubting their own memory, and how God instructs His people to respond when pride rewrites the story.

You’ll learn the difference between ordinary conflict and the repeated, destructive cycle often labeled “narcissistic”—a pattern marked by charm in public, cruelty in private, refusal to accept fault, and a constant reshaping of reality to protect the abuser’s image. “Everyone who is arrogant in heart is an abomination to the Lord.” (Proverbs 16:5) Scripture has always named this behavior: pride, deception, unrepentance.

This episode breaks down the different forms this pattern can take: the loud and obvious kind, the quiet and wounded‑looking kind, the “good person” who uses kindness as currency, and the charming‑then‑cruel kind. You’ll hear how each one operates, how they use faith language to manipulate, and how they isolate their victims through confusion, guilt, and spiritual pressure. “You will recognize them by their fruits.” (Matthew 7:16)

You’ll also learn what DARVO looks like when you finally speak the truth: Deny — “It never happened.” Attack — “You’re bitter, unstable, unforgiving.” Reverse Victim and Offender — “I’m the one who’s afraid. I need prayer.” This pattern is designed to make you doubt your memory and make others doubt your name. “A false witness will not go unpunished.” (Proverbs 19:5)

This episode offers biblical clarity on what God says about people who refuse to turn from this pattern: “Avoid such people.” (2 Timothy 3:5) Not because you lack love, but because staying on the tracks destroys your peace, your witness, and your safety.

You’ll hear practical, godly steps for responding: telling the truth only where necessary, keeping records, limiting contact, protecting children, refusing revenge, and entrusting judgment to the God who sees everything. “The prudent sees danger and hides himself.” (Proverbs 22:3) “Vengeance is mine, I will repay.” (Romans 12:19)

Finally, this episode calls the church to discernment—refusing to be swayed by charm, vague confessions, or spiritual language used as a shield. A faithful church protects the vulnerable and looks at fruit, not performance.

If you’ve lived through rewritten reality, spiritual manipulation, or DARVO, this episode will steady you, validate you, and anchor you in Scripture. You can be clear and still be Christian. You can shut a door and still be gentle. You can refuse the lie and still refuse revenge.

    Listen, share, and stay unshaken.

  • Grace You Cannot Give Yourself

Why “be kind to yourself” is too small—and why God’s grace is the only kind that saves

This episode of Unshaken Faith goes straight to the heart of a phrase our culture loves: “Give yourself grace.” It sounds gentle. It sounds wise. It sounds healing. But the truth is deeper — and far more freeing. You cannot give yourself the kind of grace your soul actually needs.

Andi Jo walks through the difference between cultural self‑kindness and biblical grace. One is a pep talk. The other is a gift purchased by Christ Himself. “By grace you have been saved… it is the gift of God.” (Ephesians 2:8–9) Grace is not self‑forgiveness. Grace is not lowering the standard. Grace is not pretending the sin wasn’t real. Grace is God treating you better than your sin deserves — because of Jesus.

This episode exposes why you cannot be the source of your own pardon. You didn’t die for your sin. You didn’t cleanse yourself. You didn’t carry the cross. “Who can forgive sins but God alone?” (Mark 2:7) Only God can speak the verdict that sets a guilty soul free.

You’ll hear the two traps believers fall into: • The harsh self — replaying failures, refusing forgiveness, mistaking self‑punishment for holiness. • The soft self — avoiding confession, avoiding change, calling denial “grace.” Both miss the gospel. Both keep you from the throne of grace. “Draw near… that we may receive mercy and find grace to help.” (Hebrews 4:16)

This episode teaches what real receiving looks like: naming sin honestly, believing God’s verdict, walking in obedience, and letting grace train you — not just comfort you. “The grace of God… trains us to renounce ungodliness.” (Titus 2:11–12)

If you’ve spent years trying to forgive yourself, fix yourself, or soothe yourself, this episode will lift that burden. You were never meant to be your own savior. You were meant to come empty and receive what Christ already paid for.

    Listen, share, and stay unshaken.

  • The Cost of Being Set Apart, Why Following Jesus Will Make You Different & Why Fitting in is Not Love

This episode of Unshaken Faith speaks directly to the quiet ache many believers carry: the cost of being set apart. Not the aesthetic version of Christianity. Not the curated version. Not the version that fits neatly into culture. The real cost — the one that touches friendships, family, dating, work, and the hidden places of your heart.

Andi Jo walks through what Scripture actually means when God calls His people “set apart.” “You shall be holy to Me… I have separated you from the peoples, that you should be Mine.” (Leviticus 20:26) Holiness is not a vibe. It is belonging. It is God claiming your life, your conduct, your desires, your boundaries, and your witness.

This episode exposes the difference between true holiness and the counterfeit versions that look Christian on the outside but leave the heart untouched. You’ll hear why being set apart does not mean being harsh, proud, or isolated — and why appearing holy is not the same as being surrendered. “Let your speech always be gracious.” (Colossians 4:6) “Wash the inside of the cup.” (Matthew 23:25)

You’ll also hear the honest truth: some people will not go with you when you obey Christ. Some friendships were built on a version of you that never said no. Some dating prospects only wanted closeness without covenant. Some family members prefer the old you because the new you exposes what they want to keep hidden. And Jesus said it would be this way: “If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own.” (John 15:19)

This episode helps you discern the difference between being misunderstood for holiness and being misunderstood for pride. It teaches you how to walk wisely, avoid the traps of your old life, and refuse to baptize compromise as “ministry.” “Make no provision for the flesh.” (Romans 13:14) “Bad company ruins good morals.” (1 Corinthians 15:33)

You’ll learn why obedience sometimes thins a room — and why that thinning is often protection, not punishment. “Come out from among them and be separate.” (2 Corinthians 6:17) And you’ll hear the comfort God gives when the crowd changes: peace, clarity, purpose, and His nearness. “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.” (James 4:8)

This episode is honest, convicting, and deeply encouraging. It will steady you in the places where obedience feels costly and remind you that compromise costs far more.

  • The Best Version of Myself - Why the phrase sounds inspiring—and why it cannot carry a Christian life

This episode tackles one of the most popular slogans of our generation: “I’m working on the best version of myself.” It sounds wise. It sounds responsible. It sounds healthy. But beneath the glow of self‑help language lies a worldview that cannot carry the weight of a Christian life.

In The Best Version of Myself, Andi Jo exposes why this phrase—though inspiring on the surface—quietly centers the self instead of Christ. You’ll hear how modern culture has turned identity into a personal project, convincing us that we are something we must invent, optimize, and curate. But Scripture begins somewhere entirely different: “It is He who made us, and we are His.” (Psalm 100:3)

This episode dismantles the subtle lie that self‑improvement is the same as sanctification. One is powered by human effort; the other is powered by the Spirit of God. One aims at becoming a more impressive version of you; the other aims at making you look more like Jesus. “I have been crucified with Christ… Christ lives in me.” (Galatians 2:20)

You’ll hear why the “best self” mindset is dangerous—how it feeds pride when you succeed, despair when you fail, and isolation when you don’t want correction. Andi Jo shows how this mindset can disguise selfishness as healing, independence as holiness, and avoidance as wisdom. “Faithful are the wounds of a friend.” (Proverbs 27:6)

This episode also confronts the truth we resist: even your most disciplined, polished, emotionally stable, admired version of yourself still falls short of God’s design. “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23) God’s goal is not “you, maximized.” It is Christ formed in you.

You’ll hear the difference between self‑work and surrender, between optimization and obedience, between protecting your peace and refusing sanctification. And you’ll learn the better question every believer must ask: Not “How do I become my best self?” But “How do I obey the Lord who bought me today?”

This episode is freeing, grounding, and deeply corrective. It will pull you out of the exhausting cycle of self‑focus and anchor you back into the gospel—where identity is received, not manufactured; where growth is Spirit‑powered, not self‑curated; and where the goal is not a better you, but a truer Christ in you.

  • Covenant, Desire, & What God Actually Said About Sex in Marriage

This episode is one of the most important conversations we’ve ever had on Unshaken Faith. The Marriage Bed confronts the confusion, silence, and twisted teachings that have quietly damaged Christian homes and left couples living as roommates instead of one flesh.

Andi Jo goes straight to Scripture — not weaponized verses, not cultural opinions, not emotional arguments — but the actual Word of God. You’ll hear what covenant really means, why “one flesh” is more than romance, and why God designed the marriage bed as a gift, not a bargaining chip.

Throughout the episode, Scripture is woven into the teaching with clarity and tenderness:

    • Genesis 2:24 — one flesh is a shared life, including the marriage bed
    • Matthew 19:6 — what God joins, we must not separate
    • Song of Solomon 5:1 — desire inside covenant is good
    • Hebrews 13:4 — the marriage bed is honorable
    • 1 Corinthians 7:3–5 — “do not deprive one another” is a command for both spouses
    • Ephesians 5:25 — love never forces
    • 1 Corinthians 13:5 — love does not insist on its own way
    • Ephesians 4:32 — kindness belongs in this conversation

This episode dismantles two dangerous lies: the lie that a spouse may demand sex without tenderness, and the lie that a spouse may close the marriage bed indefinitely and call it holiness. Both distort covenant. Both harm intimacy. Both open the door to resentment, temptation, and spiritual vulnerability.

You’ll hear how God protects the marriage bed from:

    • force
    • manipulation
    • punishment
    • pornography
    • coldness
    • silence
    • resentment

And you’ll hear how real life fits into covenant — illness, postpartum recovery, exhaustion, trauma, mismatched desire, and seasons where intimacy requires patience, communication, and compassion.

This episode is a call back to covenant faithfulness.

If you’ve ever wondered what God actually said about sex in marriage — not culture, not TikTok, not misused Scripture — this episode will bring clarity, conviction, and hope. It will challenge both husbands and wives to repent where needed, communicate where silent, and protect the marriage bed from both abuse and neglect.

God made the marriage bed honorable. He made it joyful. He made it mutual. He made it safe. He made it sacred.

  • The War Behind the Screen: How Pornography Rewires the Brain, Weakens the Soul, and How Christ Sets You Free

Pornography is not a private habit. It is not “normal curiosity.” It is not harmless in moderation. It is a war — a war against your mind, your intimacy, your integrity, and your walk with God. In this episode, Andi Jo pulls back the curtain on what really happens behind the screen and exposes pornography for what it truly is: a spiritual assault disguised as entertainment.

This episode goes far deeper than the surface-level conversations culture is comfortable having. You’ll learn how pornography hijacks the brain’s reward system, reshapes desire, and conditions the body to crave fantasy over covenant. Andi Jo breaks down the neuroscience in a way that is clear, sobering, and impossible to ignore — showing how repeated exposure rewires neural pathways, escalates tolerance, and traps users in cycles of secrecy, shame, and spiritual numbness.

But the damage doesn’t stop in the mind. Pornography weakens the soul. It distorts how you see people, how you see intimacy, and how you see yourself. It fractures marriages, erodes trust, injures attachment, and replaces real connection with counterfeit pleasure. Whether you are married or single, pornography trains your heart away from God’s design and toward a version of desire that is selfish, hollow, and destructive.

And then comes the part most people never talk about: the industry behind the images. The exploitation. The coercion. The trafficking. The manipulation. The violence. The real human beings whose suffering becomes someone else’s “escape.” This episode refuses to let believers participate in darkness without understanding the cost.

The War Behind the Screen is not soft. It is not vague. It is not comfortable. It is truthful. It is convicting. It is freeing.

This episode will confront the sin, expose the strategy of the enemy, and then lead you straight to the hope of Christ — the only One who can break the cycle, cleanse the conscience, renew the mind, and restore what pornography has damaged.

If you are caught in pornography, this episode will not coddle you. It will call you out — so Christ can call you out of it.

If you have been betrayed by pornography, this episode will validate your pain and give language to what you’ve lived through.

If you are raising children in a digital world, this episode will equip you to speak before the algorithm does.

This is not a conversation about behavior. This is a conversation about holiness, identity, and freedom.

This episode will shake you — and then steady you. It will expose darkness — and then point you to the Light. It will confront sin — and then lead you to the Savior.

The War Behind the Screen is not just an episode. It is a wake‑up call. A warning. A rescue. A path forward.

And a declaration that you do not have to stay in the dark.

  • The Pressure to Compromise Your Values in a Secular World

In this bold and timely episode of Unshaken Faith, Andi Jo speaks directly to believers who feel the subtle, constant pull to soften their convictions, blend in with culture, stay quiet to avoid conflict, or dilute their faith to keep the peace. This episode exposes the quiet, socially acceptable ways compromise creeps into a believer’s life — and how Scripture calls us to stand firm with clarity, courage, and holy conviction.

Through biblical truth, Andi Jo reveals that compromise is not simply a behavioral issue — it is a worship issue. Whatever we compromise for becomes the thing we serve. This episode explores how culture pressures believers to conform, how people‑pleasing weakens spiritual authority, and how comfort can become a silent enemy of obedience.

Listeners will learn how compromise begins subtly, how it numbs spiritual sensitivity, and how it leads to conformity rather than transformation. Through Scripture, Andi Jo highlights the dangers of blending in, the cost of half‑obedience, and the importance of guarding your convictions in a world that celebrates moral flexibility.

This episode also includes expanded practical steps to help believers identify compromise, strengthen convictions, set healthy boundaries, and walk boldly in truth without apology. Using the example of Daniel, Andi Jo shows how uncompromised obedience leads to favor, protection, clarity, and influence.

    You’ll learn:

    • How compromise begins quietly and grows subtly

    • Why compromise is a matter of allegiance, not preference

    • How culture rewards silence but punishes conviction

    • Why people‑pleasing leads to spiritual instability

    • How Daniel modeled courage, consistency, and obedience

    • Practical steps to stand firm without shrinking

    • How to protect your values with Scripture, boundaries, and discernment

    • Why holiness is strength — not extremism

This episode is a call to courage, clarity, and spiritual integrity. It reminds believers that they were not created to blend in — they were created to stand out. Not created to compromise — but to carry truth. Not created to be silent — but to shine.

    Key Scriptures: Romans 12:2 • James 4:4 • Matthew 5:13–16 • Galatians 1:10 • Daniel 1

  • Biblical Manhood: Rising Into Strength, Honor & Godly Leadership

In this powerful episode of Unshaken Faith, Andi Jo speaks directly to the hearts of men — husbands, fathers, brothers, leaders, protectors, and warriors — calling them back to the strength, honor, and spiritual authority God designed for them. In a culture that confuses masculinity, weakens conviction, and discourages men from walking in God‑given identity, Scripture restores clarity: a godly man is strong, steady, humble, courageous, and deeply needed.

This episode explores the weight and beauty of biblical manhood, revealing how true masculinity is not aggression, passivity, emotional shutdown, or domination — but Christlike strength under control. Through Scripture, Andi Jo addresses how to walk in integrity, protect what God entrusted to them, lead with humility, and build homes, families, and legacies that honor God.

Listeners will learn how God calls men to be watchful, firm in faith, courageous in responsibility, and strong in character — all while doing everything in love. This episode also addresses the spiritual role of men as protectors, builders, and leaders, showing how their presence brings stability, direction, and order to the environments God places them in.

    You’ll learn:

    • What biblical manhood truly is — strength anchored in humility

    • Why men are called to build, protect, and lead

    • How integrity shapes a man’s legacy

    • Why spiritual leadership is a man’s greatest strength

    • How growth, discipline, and courage form godly character

    • Practical steps for rising into biblical manhood

    • How Scripture defines masculinity in a confused culture

This episode is a call for men to rise — not in ego, but in character; not in dominance, but in responsibility; not in pride, but in humility; not in worldly masculinity, but in Christlike strength.

  • The Danger of Passivity & the Call to Godly Action

In this episode of Unshaken Faith, Andi Jo confronts one of the most subtle but spiritually damaging battles believers face: passivity. Passivity doesn’t always look like rebellion — sometimes it looks like hesitation, avoidance, procrastination, fear, or waiting for life to change without ever taking a step.

Passivity whispers: “I’ll do it later.” “I’m not ready.” “I don’t want conflict.” “Someone else will handle it.” “I’m too tired.” “I don’t want to make the wrong move.”

But passivity isn’t neutral — it delays healing, obedience, growth, clarity, and purpose. It keeps us stuck, silent, and spiritually asleep.

    In this episode, you’ll learn:

    • Why passivity forms in seasons of fear, insecurity, exhaustion, and overwhelm

    • How passivity creates spiritual vulnerability and emotional stagnation

    • Five powerful Bible passages that call believers into courage, clarity, and action

    • Practical steps to break hesitation and build godly consistency

    • How to replace avoidance with obedience — even when you feel uncertain

If you’ve ever felt stuck, hesitant, or afraid to move forward, this episode will remind you that God has not called you to passivity — He has called you to bold, intentional, faith‑filled action.

    Key Scriptures: • James 1:22 • Proverbs 13:4 • 1 Corinthians 16:13 • Ephesians 5:14 • 2 Timothy 1:7

    Next Steps:

    • Identify where passivity has taken root

    • Take one small step of obedience

    • Stop waiting for perfect clarity

    • Challenge the fear behind your hesitation

    • Build consistency through discipline

    • Surround yourself with people who take action
