Protecting a black woman doesn’t come at the expense of diminishing yourself or trying to invalid how she may be feeling. Being able to support, uplift, and be a voice for women like Sha’Carri Richardson is extremely important. You do not know what the next individual may be going through and it’s imperative to think about how your actions and words can effect someone. Extend grace, show up, and allow her to finish her race with confidence and not beating her down.
