The world is abuzz with excitement and worry about Artifical IntelligenceI and the human future. Perhaps the best exploration I’ve heard of AI comes not from a technological or social point of view, but from a mythological one.
What is the deeper meaning of humans creating something that might eclipse them in the future? Why are we driven to do this? More pointedly, after the Sorcerer’s Apprentice summons forth magical forces he can’t control, what happens when there’s no master Sorcerer to come fix the mess he’s created?
One of my favorite podcasts is The Emerald by Joshua Schrei, which explores contemporary issues from a mythological lens.
The episode So You Want to Be a Sorcerer in the Age of Mythic Powers on AI was so engrossing I listened to it five times. So, it only seemed natural to have a conversation with him when I was invited to participate in the AI & Your Life summit last year.

In this episode we are going share a conversation hosted by Tami Simon, the visionary founder of the media company Sounds True and Co-creator of the Inner MBA, where I’m one of the lead faculty members.
We explore the nervous system, the Green Zone model, how to create supportive environments and why trauma healing is an essential element to being a great leader.
This episode is an excellent follow on to our conversation with Heather Dyer last month.

We are going to check-in with Heather Dyer, CEO of the San Bernardino Valley Municipal Water District and see how her story is unfolding. We spoke with her 2.5 years ago in 2 gripping episodes (14 and 15). I was curious to know what happened since then.
Heather Dyer is CEO of the San Bernadino Valley Municipal Water District. She is the first woman to lead this agency that brings water to over 800,000 people in one of the fasting growing parts of water-poor Southern California.

How Vital Leaders Change the World
Today’s guest is financial advisor Spencer Sherman
Today’s conversation with Spencer ended up being an exploration of ‘how much is enough”? This is the first of two parts and I think my monk friend would be satisfied that we cover everything you need to know.
Find out more about Spencer here
Spencer Sherman (MBA, CFP®) integrates the power of mindfulness and emotional intelligence with business and finance. As the founder and former CEO of Abacus, a values-driven financial consulting firm managing over $3 billion in assets, Spencer has transformed the lives of many, helping them forge stronger relationships with themselves and others to become more effective leaders and achieve financial success on their own terms.
After earning an MBA from Wharton, Spencer began a 35-year meditation practice – discovering along the way that the secret to professional success in finance, aside from proficiency with “the numbers,” is cultivating emotional intelligence and a resilient, flexible mind.
