Rifled Muskets, repeating carbines, revolvers, sabers, horse pistols, and Bowie knives. The Civil War saw the use of a multitude of small arms. Desperate to get the upper hand on their opponent, both sides adopted all sorts of unique, creative, and sometimes peculiar weaponry.

The Hunley was a Confederate submarine that was the first submarine to sink an enemy ship. But after its successful attack, it went missing. It was finally located in 1995 by a team led by the famous Clive Cussler. Inside, the skeletal crew was found seated at their stations. No evidence of panic among the crew or destruction to the submarine was observed. What happened? What are these men's stories? On this episode I talk to Archaeologist Michael Scafuri, the detective in charge of the case.
Special thank you to Kellen Butler for setting up this interview!
