Story Transcript:

Cy: Ar hanner dydd yn ystod haf poeth yn y wlad Gymreig, Eira a Gethin sefyll yn lôn hir yn arwain at ffermdy mawr hen eu taid.
En: At midday during a hot summer in the Welsh countryside, Eira and Gethin were standing in a long lane leading to their grandfather's large old farmhouse.

Cy: Yno, roedd ffenestri mewnol yn disgleirio dan heulwen cynnes, yn curo ar wyneb y gwydr gan greu tonnau o wres.
En: There, the interior windows shimmered under the warm sunlight, beating on the glass surface creating waves of heat.

Cy: Gethin roedd wedi cymryd mantais o eistedd yn yr ardd ogledig, ei gefn yn erbyn coeden hen.
En: Gethin had taken advantage of sitting in the north garden, his back against an old tree.

Cy: Ei ysbryd mwy ymarferol yn canolbwyntio ar y dyletswyddau sy'n eu disgwyl y diwrnod canlynol - darllen ewyllys ei daid.
En: His more practical spirit focused on the duties awaiting them the following day - reading his grandfather's will.

Cy: Roedd Eira, yn amlwg fodd bynnag, yn ymosodol ac yn barod i wynebu unrhyw dirgelwch.
En: Eira, however, was clearly eager and ready to face any mystery.

Cy: "Mae'r llythyr yma'n dweud bod mwy na meddylia i ni wybod," meddai Eira, ei llais yn brin o amheuaeth wrth chwifio llythyr rhwystyredig hanner canrif oed.
En: "The letter here says there is more than we think we know," said Eira, her voice lacking doubt as she waved a troublesome fifty-year-old letter.

Cy: Roedd hi wedi ddod o hyd iddo y noson gynt, yn cuddio mewn gwaith tynnu hen iâ dan silff wrth gefn.
En: She had found it the previous night, hidden in old ice removal work under a spare shelf.

Cy: "Beth yw dy fwriad, Eira?
En: "What is your intention, Eira?"

Cy: " gofyn Gethin, llygedyn o amheuaeth yn ei lygaid.
En: asked Gethin, a hint of doubt in his eyes.

Cy: "Mae'n rhaid i ni fynd i'r atig.
En: "We have to go to the attic.

Cy: Rwyn siwr bod rhywbeth bwysig yno.
En: I'm sure there's something important there.

Cy: Rhaid gwybod y gwir!
En: We must know the truth!"

Cy: "Gethin clenodd ei ben, nid oedd y lleisiau ohono yn sicr am ymrwymiadau teulu.
En: Gethin nodded, unsure about family commitments.

Cy: Ond, gyda chytundeb ofalus, taro ei llaw ar fraich ei chwaer.
En: But, with careful agreement, he patted his sister's arm.

Cy: "Iawn.
En: "Alright.

Cy: Ond dim nonsens, Eira.
En: But no nonsense, Eira."

Cy: "Pan aethon nhw i'r atig, roedd y golau'n law yn llugoer trwy'r to.
En: When they went to the attic, the sparse light glowed through the roof.

Cy: Byddai'r atig, yn llawnous gyda cheirw a hen deils caneuon, fel lle gorffwys ar gyfer amserau colli.
En: The attic, crowded with deer and old song tiles, was like a resting place for lost times.

Cy: Oll yn unfawr yn ymddiheuro oherwydd chwilfrydedd hir-hoelio.
En: All of it humbly apologizing due to long-nailed curiosity.

Cy: "Dyma fe," nododd Eira, yn nodi trwnc pren maluriedig mewn cornel.
En: "There it is," Eira pointed out, indicating a dilapidated wooden trunk in a corner.

Cy: "Edrych.
En: "Look."

Cy: "Agorodd Gethin y trwnc, llythyrau a lluniau mewn pentwr difa.
En: Gethin opened the trunk, letters and photographs in a disarrayed pile.

Cy: Datgelodd y pwysau gosodedig hanes y rhyfel a dewis a newidiodd bywyd y teulu am byth.
En: They uncovered the heavy weight of history from the war and choices that changed the family's life forever.

Cy: "Mae hwn yn rhywbeth," meddai Gethin, i gyd ar chwistrelliad, "Mae hyn yn rhywbeth.
En: "This is something," said Gethin, entirely intrigued, "This is something."

Cy: "Erbyn y diwedd, roedd Eira a Gethin wedi symud agosach at ei gilydd.
En: By the end, Eira and Gethin had moved closer to each other.

Cy: Roedd Eira wedi deall y burden o'r gwirionedd a oedd y gwerthfawr.
En: Eira had understood the burden of the truth, which was precious.

Cy: Gethin trodd y glust i ddarllediadau emosiynol, gwasgai llythyron hen yn agos.
En: Gethin turned an ear to emotional broadcasts, holding old letters close.

Cy: "Mae'n rhaid i ni gadw hwn i ni ein hunain," meddai Eira yn bwyllog, edrychiad meddal ar y winllan o blastig.
En: "We must keep this to ourselves," said Eira calmly, a soft look on the plastic vine.

Cy: A dyna sut y gorffenodd.
En: And that's how it ended.

Cy: Eu cyfrinach eu hunain, yn llawn cyffro y cynted coll ond y gwerthfawr, aros gyda nhw, wedi'i hudo yn llonydd cyfrwng y lleoedd colli.
En: Their own secret, full of the excitement of what was once lost but precious, stayed with them, enchanted in the quiet medium of lost places.
