Many non-scouters believe that Scouting is militaristic. Almost to the point of an “urban legend”. This rumor that somehow our peace movement is actually militarily oriented. Baden-Powell the founder of Scouting spend most of his professional career in the military. As the Scouting movement was developing it became more of a peace movement throughout the world. Citizenship and one's duty to the country are regarded as institutional morals. In the past, the Boy Scouts of America have been asked to participate in campaigns for volunteer citizens. Retaining the principles and beliefs of the scout movement as a peaceful organization.
