Up The Cherries In All Departments - AFC Bournemouth Fans Podcast

Welcome to the second episode here on UTCIAD of This Is Football where we discuss the ongoing hot topics in the sport we love. This week Craig and Mani are joined by Kate from the fantastic Leicester Till I Die TV to discuss the Foxes avoiding a points deduction.

Many pundits have criticised Leicester and demanded they are punished but with Manchester City and Chelsea running riot, why are the fans of the other 13 clubs outside the Big Six not happy with this?

We look at all the reasoning why Richard Masters should resign from his job at the Premier League, how Leicester City beat PSR and ask what needs to happen to make the sport we love fairer and allow for fairytales such as that experienced by the very club they are trying to attack happening again.

Or do the elite not want that?

And what happens now that they have punished Everton and Nottingham Forest? I think one thing we can agree on is that points deductions have no place in football and that the rule book needs to be ripped up and rewritten.

Let us know your thoughts!

David Icke will be known by a Conspiracy Theorist to some, Controversial by others but what many will not know is David's journey in football which took him from Coventry City to Hereford United via Oxford United and Northampton Town and this is what we cover in this special show.

In this unique interview, Craig Beazley dives into a career which was tragically cut short due to arthritis and David's journey from the pitch to presenting Grandstand and Newsnight for the BBC in the 1980's.

We also dive into David's time in Saudi Arabia, his meeting with England's 1966 heroes as a youngster and we ask the question - Who really controls football and the world?

We also cover Profit and Sustainability Rules that Leicester City managed to avoid but Everton and Nottingham Forest fell foul of last season whilst also touching on subjects close to David's heart.

So please do enjoy this very special interview with David Icke. We thank David for joining us on this show.

Oasis have just announced their new tour and being a musical bunch of Cherries (excuse the pun) we couldn't not celebrate this with our latest Cherry Picking show.

Craig and Matt are joined this week by Jonny Blair - our resident travelling Cherry - as we discuss Jonny's favourite players of the 1990's, 2000's, 2010's and of course today who donned the famous red and black.

We also discuss AFC Bournemouth signing goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga who previously played for Chelsea and some minnows called Real Madrid (yes we haven't heard of them either) as well as covering VAR and the Carabao Cup defeat to West Ham United.

We also have our weekly Guess The Cherry!

Let us know what you would like in our next installment.

Back in 1995, Everton contested the FA Cup Final against a Manchester United side managed by Sir Alex Ferguson who were frustrated missing out on the Premier League title to surprise winners Blackburn Rovers. The Toffees had suffered a tough season which started under Mike Walker who had taken over from legendary manager Howard Kendall but ended with Joe Royle leading the team to Wembley. Everton were the underdogs.

However, with a team full of heart, spirit and quality the trophy headed back to Merseyside - and our special guest for an interview won the club their last major silverware.

In fact, Paul Rideout grew up in Bournemouth and could have played for the Cherries under Harry Redknapp but joined Swindon Town and it was from there he enjoyed a journey which took him to Aston Villa, to Italy with Bari, down the M27 with Southampton and then to Goodison Park where he was involved in one of the most iconic moments in fans memories.

Paul was the man who scored that very goal and he joined Craig Beazley for a chat covering his whole career from Wiltshire to Wembley plus he gives his thoughts on the current situation including the futures of Sean Dyche, the ownership and we even discuss Profit & Sustainability rules and the Points Deductions which plagued the club last season.

Enjoy this exclusive interview with Paul and let us know your thoughts. We thank Paul Rideout for joining us on this show.

We are next off to the London Stadium for the Carabao Cup game against West Ham United and ahead of the match we spoke with LBC Presenter and Author Iain Dale about the Hammers aims this season.

A club who have signed a number of exciting stars such as Crysencio Summerville and Niclas Füllkrug will of course be aiming for European Qualification once again under new manager Julen Lopetegui who takes over from David Moyes who was the last man to do so and win a European Trophy with the Hammers.

But is this cup a priority for AFC Bournemouth and West Ham? Iain explains all about the Hammers transfer business and gives his opinions on the Hammers new manager and of course Moyes.

We also discuss Iain's new book being released on the 5th September 2024 called The Dictators which covers the most unlikeable people from Pisistratus coming right up to date with the likes of Vladimir Putin also covering the likes of Pol Pot and Adolf Hitler.

You can preorder a copy of the book signed by Iain here - https://www.politicos.co.uk/products/the-dictators-a-warning-from-history-edited-by-iain-dale-signe-copy-coming-in-2024

Final score from Dean Court in todays 2pm kick off against Newcastle United was AFC Bournemouth 1-1 Newcastle United. However, despite nothing against the Magpies, Referee David Coote and VAR Tim Robinson made a massive error as they ruled out a late Dango Ouattara header (which come off the shoulder as well) as a hand ball.

For David Coote and Tim Robinson's benefit as well as VAR we ask them to check the thumbnail on our YouTube channel so they can learn basic human anatomy.

Craig asks should VAR be scrapped and what should happen in the top flight moving forwards.

Let us know your thoughts.

Robbed by the referee and VAR again...

In the first of our preview shows covering Sunday's game against Newcastle United, we had the pleasure of welcoming on John Sinclair from the fantastic John Sinclair TV to discuss the Magpies visit to Dean Court. A place which was home to God also known as Eddie Howe but hasn't been a happy hunting ground since.

John discusses with Craig Beazley the changes in the Saudi Ownership following the departures of Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi from St James' Park and the arrival of Lloyd Kelly. Plus we discuss the dubious red card for Fabian Schär and ask if Southampton forward Ben Brereton Díaz should have gone too.

Let us know your predictions below and please check out John's channel including his trip to Japan!
