The Judicial Conduct Tribunal has heard how power imbalances in the workplace create difficulties and consequences if a victim of sexual harassment says No. The landmark probe is investigating a complaint by Judges' Secretary, Andiswa Mengo against Eastern Cape Judge President Selby Mbenenge. Mengo alleges that she was sexually harassed in the form of in-person interactions and electronic communication between June 2021 and November 2022, allegedly by the Judge President. Researcher in the field of violence against women, Lisa Vetten has told the tribunal that nuances surrounding sexual harassment in the workplace include consequences that can follow if a victim says "NO". The ANC has vowed to reflect on the political implications of the DA's decision to withdraw from the National Dialogue following the dismissal of former Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Andrew Whitfield. The DA has also called on civil society organisations to reconsider their support for the dialogue. Last week President Cyril Ramaphosa fired Whitfield for undertaking a US trip without authorisation. But DA leader John Steenhuisen says Ramaphosa's action was unfair as he fails to act against errant ANC ministers. Jon Gericke spoke to Moeletsi Mbeki, a political analyst. 

Four former Transnet executives are appearing in the Palm Ridge Magistrates court, in Ekurhuleni after handing themselves over to police this morning. Their appearance is linked to an alleged fraudulent 93-million-rand locomotive tender. In 2012, Transnet went on a tender for the acquisition of the more than one-thousand locomotives deal. The executives are charged in connection with an irregular payment of R93,4 million to Trillian Asset management for organising a R30 billion loan to help buy locomotives. It's alleged it was a double payment as Transnet had already paid another transaction advisory firm - Regiments. Trillian allegedly did nothing to earn the fee but invoiced Transnet.

Several suburbs in Gauteng will experience water outage or reduced water supply next week. Gauteng water board Rand Water will be starting the second phase of its critical maintenance project in the province, which will cause disruptions to supply over the next few weeks. Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Police, Ian Cameron says the arrests of Crime Intelligence head, Lieutenant General Dumisani Khumalo and other high-ranking SAPS officials points to a deeper crisis inside the organisation's senior leadership. Yesterday, members of the National Prosecuting Authority's Investigating Directorate against Corruption (IDAC) arrested Khumalo and other senior officials at OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg. They are expected to appear in the Pretoria Magistrates Court. Six suspects arrested in connection with the kidnapping of 19 year old Kamogelo Baukudi are expected to appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrates court on Monday. Baukudi who was kidnapped on the 5th of June has been found alive in Wepener. The Grade 11 learner from Martie du Plessis special school was kidnapped while driven home from school in Bloemfontein. The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime has flagged South Africa as a key regional hub for illicit drug trafficking, underlining the need for urgent and coordinated action. And in order to address this the Department of Social Development and the Central Drug Authority are launching a week-long outreach campaign in Mpumalanga to tackle rising drug abuse. The area has recently come under the spotlight following significant drug-related arrests and the discovery of underground laboratories used in the manufacture of illicit substances. In April, law enforcement recovered R20 million worth of drug-making materials and arrested six suspects in Standerton.
