Suspended Judge Anna Makhubele has finally taken the stand in the misconduct probe before the Judicial Conduct Tribunal. She is appearing before the body after a formal complaint was laid against her by civil society organisation, #UniteBehind in 2019. The organisation alleges that the Judge violated the separation of powers principle by being both a Judge and chairperson of state-owned company, Prasa. The trial-within-trial in the Senzo Meyiwa murder case has resumed in the High Court in Pretoria. Yesterday, lead investigator in the case, Bongani Gininda testified that communication records between singer, Kelly Khumalo and her sister, Zandi Khumalo show that Kelly wanted to get rid of Meyiwa, as early as the year 2013. During his testimony, Gininda also revealed that two of the accused had implicated the singer in the murder of the soccer star. Meyiwa was gunned down in October 2014 at Khumalo's parental home in Vosloorus, east of Johannesburg. Five men are on trial for Meyiwa's murder. Basic Education Minister, Angie Motshekga has tabled before Parliament, her department's policy on the prevention and management of learner pregnancy in schools. The policy aims to, amongst other things, prohibit the expulsion of pregnant learners from schools and to provide them with pre and post-natal support. According to research conducted by Statistics South Africa, 4 percent of learners between the ages of 14 and 19 years fell pregnant between the year 2018 to 2022.  The Basic Education Department now wants proactive support for learners who fall pregnant. The Marshalltown Fire Justice Campaign has welcomed the confession and arrest of a suspect, in connection with the Usindiso building fire in Johannesburg, where 77 people were killed last year. The suspect was on Tuesday after he confessed before the Commission of inquiry into the Usindiso building fire this week. Campaign  coordinator, Mametlwe Sebei says the arrest does not absolve the City of Johannesburg and other levels of government for their culpability.

While some opposition parties have united under the multi-party charter, political parties like the Black First Land First and liberation movement and the Pan Africanist Congress of Azania have instead headed down to Nkandla to meet with former President Jacob Zuma ahead of the general elections. This is as the black minority parties intend on uniting and consolidating their leftist vote ahead of what has been termed as the most contested elections since 1994. The School Governing Body from the Sidlamafa Secondary School in Nkomazi, Mpumalanga says it remains frustrated at the continuing closure of the school. No learning and teaching has been taking place at the schools since the reopening of the school term last week. KwaZulu-Natal ANC provincial secretary, Bheki Mtolo says the provincial executive committee in the province has resolved to immediately expel ANC members found to be taking part in or associating themselves with other political parties contesting the 2024 elections. Mtolo says these members would be presumed to have already left the party or voluntarily resigned themselves. Mtolo was addressing the media on the outcomes of the ANC-KZN PEC meeting earlier.

The cross-examination of the lead investigator in the Senzo Meyiwa murder case is continuing in the High Court in Pretoria. Brigadier Bongani Gininda has been testifying in the trial- within-a-trial as the defence team challenges the admissibility of confession statements of some of the accused. Five men are on trial for gunning down the Bafana Bafana captain in October 2014. A witness statement that Gininda read - revealed that one of the accused -Bongani  Ntanzi- was the gun supplier and hitman. SABC reporter, Pearl Magubane filed this report.

Fuel Consumers remain in limbo over the source of contaminated diesel that has been found in at least 70 filling stations across the country. According to the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy, the watered-down diesel is allegedly mixed with illuminating paraffin. This is prompted the Automobile Association to express great concern, adding that it may be possible that petrol stations are not aware that the fuel they get from suppliers is contaminated.
