Public service and administration minister, Noxolo Kiviet has revealed that thousands of public servants are illegally claiming social grants that are intended for citizens in financial need. The revelation was made when Kiviet made a written reply to a parliamentary question by Democratic Alliance Member of Parliament, Mimmy Gondwe, in which Kiviet revealed that over 5,800 Covid-19 social relief of distress grants and over 33,800 social grants were cancelled after it was discovered that the applicants or beneficiaries had contravened the Social Assistance Act. For more on this Elvis Presslin spoke to the head of the public administration ethics, integrity & disciplinary technical assistance unit at the Department of Public Service & Administration, Dr Salomon Hoogenraad-Vermaak.
