American-based subscription streaming service Netflix has committed 929-million-rand to the South African filming industry. The company made its commitment at the fourth South Africa investment conference at the Sandton Convenction Centre in Johannesburg. The conference which was inaugurated in 2018 is looking for one-point-two trillion rand in investment commitments for the next five years. KwaZulu-Natal Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) has condemned the murder of iNkosi Mandlakayise Nxumalo who was gunned down in the Nazareth area in Ladysmith. The killing comes after a number of Amakhosi and Izinduna were repordedly assassinated in the province in recent months. The Democratic Alliance says it has submitted a written parliamentary question to the Minister of Finance, Enoch Godongwana, to establish what concerns National Treasury had with the SAA Takatso consortium transaction. This after the National Treasury revealed that it was not part of the process of the disposing of the 51% of the government's shareholding in SAA to a strategic equity partner last year. Treasury says it never gave any consent to the transaction nor could it vouch for the compliance of the process followed by the department of public enterprises in this regard. Police are maintaining a strong presence outside the Dobsonville police station as EFF opens a case against leader of Operation Dudula, Nhlanhla Lux Dlamini. Dlamini is accused of allegedly breaking into a Soweto resident home during his organisation's march this past weekend. Operation Dudula members were allegedly searching for drugs and accused the homeowner of running a drug den. Sakina Kamwendo spoke to SABC reporter Hasina Gori

ActionSA has terminated the membership of Dr Makhosi Khoza. The party says this was on the recommendations of its Ethics and Disciplinary Committee. In a statement, ActionSa says evidence brought against Khoza,  who was the party's eThekwini Municipality councilor, included numerous public utterances and comments made to the media which were deemed to have been made with the intention of bringing the party into disrepute. Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula has told the Standing Committee on Public Accounts (SCOPA) that Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) had three thousand ghost workers in December 2021. Mbalula says their salaries were stopped and none have come forward to claim their salaries after what he has described as a "grand scam".  Sakina Kamwendo spoke to SABC reporter, Bulelani Phillips.

Electronic hailing services operators have embarked on a three-day nationwide shutdown starting today. The operators are calling on government to regulate the industry. They say this will help prevent their exploitation and promote safety within the e-hailing sector by rooting out criminal elements. Sakina Kamwendo spoke to SABC reporter, Phumzile Mlangeni.

Eskom says an incident at Koeberg nuclear power station where a technician onsite accidentally cut a wrong valve had no impact on the running unit. The incident, where the technician is said to have cut a valve on the reactor known as Unit 1, instead of the same valve on Unit 2, was reported in an internal Koeberg newsletter to staff. In its response to the incident the power utility says Koeberg's high safety measures timeously identified the error and prevented any damage being caused. It says Unit 1 has now been safely online and running, without any interruptions. Farmers near the Meul River in the Free State, have moved their livestock away from the river following a massive diesel spillage. The Meul River  was contaminated after a diesel spill when a Transnet pipeline was tampered with and fuel stolen. Farmers are concerned that the contamination of the river will affect the livestock that drink from the water.
