Police Minister Fikile Mbalula has announced changes in the management of the Philippi East police station outside Cape Town where eleven people were killed last weekend. Mbalua visited the families of the victims who were shot and killed in the local Marikana Informal Settlement. A task team has also been formed to try and bring stability to the area. Students from the Nelson Mandela University have barricaded entrances to the two Summerstrand campuses in Port Elizabeth, calling for stringent security measures on all campuses. This comes after two students were attacked at the Computer lab on the University's 2nd Avenue campus. One student was allegedly raped and another stabbed. Opposition parties - the EFF and DA - in the North West say they will picket at the Jacob Zuma Capture Site Monument at Groot Marico set to be unveiled on Wednesday. The ANC in Limpopo says it is looking into an official complaint submitted by the executive mayor of Polokwane, Thembi Nkadimeng, following death threats against her. Gangsterism is said to be on the increase at Flagstaff in the Eastern Cape, with seven people including a community newspaper reporter killed over the weekend. Police say alleged gangsters continue to terrorise the communities of Flagstaff and Lusikisiki, despite a recent visit by President Jacob Zuma and Police Minister, Fikile Mbalula. A meeting between the ANC Senior Officials including president Jacob Zuma and a faction that took the party's Kwa -Zulu natal leadership to court is believed to have run into the late hours of the night in Durban. The Party's top officials are in the province to try and restore unity following the 2015 provincial elective conference and subsequent judgement that nullified it. The Province's PEC last week filed a notice to appeal against the court judgement prompting the faction that took them to court to cry foul as the NEC of the party had yet to deliberate on the matter. The Gupta family is opposing the Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse's application to freeze mine rehabilitation funds worth one-point-seven billion rand for two of their coal mines. OUTA last week obtained an interim order from the High Court in Pretoria which directed the Bank of Baroda to continue to hold the trust funds of the Optimum and Koornfontein mines.
