September 21, 2017NERSA approves consultative process for Eskom's 2018/19 revenue applicationThe National Energy Regulator of South Africa's (NERSA) has approved the consultative process for Eskom's 2018/19 revenue application or tariff increase. Eskom's multi-year price determination cycle will end on March the 31st 2018. The power utility has submitted a revenue application for the period April the first 2018 to March the 31st 2019. It is asking NERSA to grant it a 19-point-nine percent tariff increase for the 2018/19 period. This is a 14-point-three-billion-rand increase, up seven per cent from the previous year. In a detailed ruling released in Nairobi on Wednesday, the Supreme Court however said it did not find evidence of vote rigging and that any official of the electoral commission was criminally culpable for the illegalities and irregularities that led to the nullification of the polls.
