Parliament's Portfolio Committee on Home Affairs says it expects Minister Hlengiwe Mkhize to brief it soon on her decision to suspend her director-general, Mkhuseli Apleni. Apleni says he will challenge his suspension. He was placed on precautionary suspenson for failing to arrange a meeting between Mkhize, and her staff. Aplenis' lawyer, Sandile July, earlier said his client received a notice of intention to suspend him last week. We speak to the committee's chairperson Lemias Mashile.

Home Affairs Director-General Mkuseli Apleni has been suspended. This is according to the Chief Executive of Pan-African Investment and Research Services, Dr Iraj Abedian. Outspoken ANC MP Makhosi Khoza's disciplinary hearing by the ANC in KZN was yesterday postponed for a second time after she and her representative failed to attend the hearing. Khoza had released a statement over the weekend saying the disciplinary process initiated against her is illegitimate and cannot proceed following the Pietermartizburg High Court's decision that declared the eighth ANC provincial elective conference invalid.
