President Jacob Zuma says South Africa missed the opportunity in 1994 to implement radical socio economic transformation programmes in order to achieve equal distribution of the country's economy. The President was speaking during the launch of the Truman Magubane Foundation which is aimed at assisting underprivileged children from Pietermaritzburg in KwaZulu Natal. Details of the funeral service of Ronnie Mamoepa are expected to be made public today. Mamoepa passed away on Saturday night at the Unitas Hospital in Centurion, south of Pretoria. Mamoepa was the spokesperson for the deputy president, Cyril Ramaphosa. He died of complications after he suffered a stroke five weeks ago. Liela Magnus reports

Emergency Rescue Services have located the body of another Tau - Lekwa Gold mineworker who was trapped underground following a rockfall at the mine. This is the third body of a miner after two other bodies were earlier recovered. The search for the last man continues at the gold mine in Orkney near Klerksdorp in North West. The African Union has called on all stakeholders in Kenya's general election to ensure that its poll next month is free, fair and credible for the sake of the country's stability. Former South African President, Thabo Mbeki, who's heading the AU election observer mission to Kenya, says a credible and peaceful poll on 8 August would set a precedent for the rest of Africa. He spoke to the media in Nairobi after two days of marathon meetings with several key people in the electoral process.
