Eskom has confirmed it will be paying multi-million-rand bonuses to current and former senior managers including axed CEO Brian Molefe. Spokesperson Khulu Phasiwe says they are paying the bonuses because people have met and exceeded their performances. Eskom earlier denied it was in financial dire straits and that it would be unable to pay salaries from November.

The search for eight missing fishermen off Cape St Francis in the Eastern Cape has resumed this morning. The fisherman went missing yesterday after their chokka vessel capsized. Snowfalls have been reported in various parts of the Western Cape. Temperatures have plummeted since the start of the weekend as a cold front made landfall. The SACP says it's 14th national congress resolution to contest elections independently is not a breakaway from the ANC-led tripartite alliance. The party is however concerned about the alliance in its present form and is also deeply concerned about its future. If there are no major incidents over the next couple of days, this will go down as one of the best circumcision seasons in the province in over a decade.
