Former SABC COO Hlaudi Motsoeneng has distanced himself from the current financial woes at the public broadcaster. Motsoeneng says when he left the SABC, there was money, and therefore he cannot speak on the current financial state of the organisation. Motsoeneng addressed a press briefing at the Garden Court Hotel in Milpark Johannesburg. It was organised by his supporters under the banner of , "friends Of Hlaudi". Pearl Magubane reports.

Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa has come out strongly in support of governments Radical Economic Transformation. The Black Business Council has also rallied behind government. BBC president Danisa Baloyi says apartheid economic systems should change radically and immediately to empower the majority black people. Both the deputy president and Baloyi were speaking at the Black Business Council's Economy recovery dinner last night. The late 18 year-old Ontlametse Phalatse, who lived with Progeria disease, lived an inspirational life. This is according to multitudes of people who turned out for her memorial service in Hebron, North West. Phalatse died last week at Steve Biko Academic Hospital in Pretoria after complaining about breathing complications. She was due to attend president Jacob Zuma's birthday celebrations. The second term of schooling has been begun with controversial teacher shortages at some schools in the Eastern Cape. This comes as parents and SGB members at Kuyasa High School in Dimbaza have threatened to embark on a rolling mass action if the government fails to employ more teachers. The Education Department has also been accused of failing to issue placement letters on time to at least one-thousand temporary teachers, as Lubabalo Dada reports

Finance Minister Malusi Gigaba begins a multi-city roadshow of the United States in Washington tomorrow where he will participate in the annual Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. This will be his first international trip after the axing of his predecessor Pravin Gordhan that subsequently led to the country's credit rating being downgraded twice to sub investment grade or junk status. Gigaba will also travel to New York and Boston where he plans to reassure investors of the country's commitment to fiscal discipline and work to prevent South Africa from suffering a third downgrade from Moodys. The Barolong boora Tlou tribal authority in Kraaipan in the North West has condemned the illegal slaughter of donkeys in the area. This comes after more than 30 donkey were recently killed and skinned at one of the maize and sunflower plantations near Kraaipan. Tribal authority spokesperson, Ntoko Mokoto, says in Madibogo village they have discovered about a hundred donkey carcases which had been skinned . Two people have been burnt to death and one seriously injured after their vehicle hit barricades placed on the roads by Vuwani residents in Limpopo. Protesting residents resumed their shut down yesterday over an unresolved municipal dispute. Six other vehicles were damaged by protesters yesterday. Our reporter Witness Tivha joins us on the line.
