The family of a 14-year-old boy who was allegedly assaulted by his principal at Manyano Primary School in Middelburg, Mpumalanga says it plans to sue the department of education. Siphamandla Choma was allegedly beaten up by the school principal after he was accused of stealing R150, leaving him paralysed. Congregants of the St Martin Lutheran church in Kimberley in the Northern Cape have taken to the streets in a march against the embezzlement of church funds. Over one hundred church members marched in the rain to stop what they call the victimization of whistle blowers in the church. Statistician General Pali Lehohla has told the Fees Commission that free higher education is possible with proper planning. In his presentation, Lehohla told the commission that problems facing the education system had a historical background and that apartheid was to blame.
