Daily operations had to be suspended at the Kangra Coal Mine in Piet Retief, Mpumalanga, due to violent protest action by residents of Saul Mkhizeville. They are angry over what they call a lack of development in their community while they have a mine in their neighbourhood. Yesterday, they took to the streets blockading roads with burning tyres and rubbish demanding that the mine plough back into the community. Abongile Dumako compiled this report.

Four-million-rand has been received from the insurance of former Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana goalkeeper, Senzo Meyiwa, by the Premier Soccer League. The Bafana and Pirates goalkeeper was killed at his girlfriend's house in Vosloorus, in October 2014. His killers have not yet been caught. The alleged Ponzi scheme MMM's Global is reportedly collapsing. Russian convict and mastermind behind MMM Global Sergey Mavrodi has allegedly announced that the scheme has failed and is shutting down. However the South African version of MMM is said to still be operating and offers 30% returns instead of 100%. MMM South Africa is currently being investigated by police for being an alleged Ponzi scheme.
