Statement of Need Stroke is the fifth leading cause of death in the U.S. and Kentucky. Additionally, stroke is a leading cause of disability in the US. Kentucky residents exceed the national average for lifestyle habits that lead to stroke (smoking, obesity, etc.). Providers can benefit from understanding the latest treatment options in the acute management of strokes with the goal of maximizing patient outcomes.
Objectives At the conclusion of this offering, the participant will be able to:
- Define the types and causes of strokes.
- Describe the latest clinical protocols in the acute management of ischemic strokes.
