  • Protecting Our Kids, Saving Our State | Victor & Eileen Marx

Is Colorado at a breaking point? And what does the future of our state mean for the families raising the next generation?

In this urgent episode of the Upright Christian Parenting Podcast, host Hannah Pierrou welcomes Victor and Eileen Marx, founders of All Things Possible Ministries, parents of five, and longtime advocates for protecting vulnerable children.

After years of confronting human trafficking, abuse, and injustice around the world, the Marxes found themselves facing a deeply personal crisis right here in Colorado. What happened to their own daughter became part of a defining decision: leave the state they love or stay and fight for its future.

Now, with Victor running for Colorado governor in 2026, the couple joins Hannah for a candid conversation about faith, family, public safety, parental rights, affordability, and the responsibilities we carry for the next generation.

    In this powerful conversation:

    • The frightening incident involving their daughter that helped inspire their political involvement

    • Why Victor and Eileen believe Colorado is at a critical crossroads

    • Child protection, parental rights, and controversial 2026 Colorado ballot measures

    • Rising living costs and the financial pressures facing Colorado families

    • Concerns about Medicaid cuts affecting families with special-needs children

    • Why Eileen believes mothers have an important voice in their communities

    • The role of Christian faith, courage, and conviction in public life

    • Why the most important work parents do still begins at home

This conversation goes beyond campaign slogans and political parties. It's a personal look at the convictions, experiences, and priorities driving one Colorado family into an unexpected chapter of public service.

What kind of Colorado are we leaving our children?

Whether you're a parent, grandparent, Colorado voter, or simply someone concerned about the next generation, this is a conversation worth hearing in full.

    • The Building Is Burning: Rescue Kids from School Indoctrination

What if the greatest threat to our children's future isn't outside the classroom, but inside it?

Our children are being shaped by more than textbooks and test scores. From controversial school library books and critical race theory to gender ideology and the growing battle over parental rights, who is really influencing the hearts and minds of the next generation?

In this eye-opening episode of Upright Christian Parenting, host Hannah Pierrou welcomes Sheri Few, founder and president of United States Parents Involved in Education (USPIE) and executive producer of Truth and Lies in American Education, for a bold conversation about the state of America's public education system and the urgent responsibility of Christian parents.

Together, they examine a shocking school board controversy in Penfield, New York, the debate surrounding Banned Books Week, concerns over ideological indoctrination, and why so many parents believe these issues could never happen in their own schools.

But this conversation goes beyond exposing problems. It's about finding solutions.

Drawing on the powerful analogy of a burning building, Sheri challenges parents to consider a difficult question: If we recognize the danger and rescue our own children, what responsibility do we have to those still inside?

From homeschooling and alternative education to grassroots advocacy, biblical discipleship, and the courage to stand for truth even when it comes at a cost, this episode challenges Christian families to move beyond awareness and into action.

Because education is never just academic. It shapes a child's worldview, identity, values, and understanding of truth.

The building is burning. Will we simply watch, or will we help rescue the next generation?

      In this episode:

      • What's really happening inside America's public schools?

      • Banned Books Week, explicit library materials, and parental rights

      • Critical race theory, gender ideology, and concerns about classroom indoctrination

      • Why parents may not recognize what's happening in their local schools

      • Homeschooling, co-ops, and alternative education solutions

      • How to advocate for children without allowing fear of backlash to silence you

      • Why Christian parents must reclaim their role as their children's primary disciplers

      • Practical ways to get involved and protect the next generation

      • After 15 Years, God called me to Walk Away

What happens when God asks you to walk away from something you’ve spent 15 years building?

Something you love. Something that helped shape you. Something that provided for your family. Something you once believed God Himself had placed in your hands.

In this deeply personal episode of the Upright Christian Parenting Podcast, host, author, homeschool mom, and Christian parent Hannah Pierrou shares a story she hasn’t fully told before—a testimony of hearing God’s voice, wrestling with surrender, trusting His provision, and finding the courage to obey when His calling no longer looks the way you expected.

The story begins years ago: a sleepy new-mama season, a husband deployed overseas, 29 days of silence, and an unexpected lifeline that would eventually grow into something Hannah could never have predicted.

For 15 years, God used it.

        He grew it.

        He provided through it.

And then, quietly, Hannah began to sense Him asking her to do the one thing she never expected:

        Walk away.

But how do you know when it’s really God asking you to let go?

What do you do when obedience to God collides with financial security? When the thing you’re being asked to surrender isn’t bad—but good? When walking by faith means releasing something familiar before you can clearly see what comes next?

Hannah shares the private wrestling behind the decision: the whispers she initially questioned, the fear surrounding finances, the moments of confirmation, and what began happening when she finally said yes.

And that’s where the story takes a turn.

Unexpected provision. New opportunities. Doors opening at just the right time. And a growing realization that perhaps God wasn’t simply asking Hannah to end something.

He was making room for something else.

If you’re in a season of transition, waiting, surrender, career change, Christian motherhood, finding your purpose, discerning God’s will, or trying to hear God’s voice, this episode is for you.

It’s a vulnerable Christian testimony about trusting God when you don’t have the whole plan, following the Holy Spirit, choosing faith over fear, recognizing when God is closing a season, and having the courage to obey before you know the outcome.

Because sometimes the hardest thing God asks us to surrender isn’t something wrong.

        Sometimes it’s something we love.

And sometimes you don’t understand why He’s asking you to lay it down until you finally open your hands.

Topics: Christian testimony, hearing God’s voice, discerning God’s will, obedience to God, trusting God, biblical surrender, Christian motherhood, Christian parenting, walking by faith, faith over fear, God’s calling, finding your purpose, trusting God with finances, God’s provision, career transition, Holy Spirit guidance, following Jesus, Christian encouragement, homeschool mom, biblical worldview, Christian family, and Upright Christian Parenting.

      • PT 2: From the Family Table to the Table of Influence | College of the Ozarks

        WELCOME TO SEASON 5!!!

What does it look like to educate children not just for academic success—but to know what they believe, why they believe it, and how to live it out with courage?

In this two-part conversation on the Upright Christian Parenting Podcast, Hannah Pierrou sits down with Dr. Sue Head of College of the Ozarks and Andrew Pyatt, a graduate of both School of the Ozarks and College of the Ozarks who returned to teach theology and classical humanities.

Together, they explore a different vision for Christian education—one rooted in faith, character, hard work, truth, goodness, beauty, and preparing the next generation to follow Christ in the real world.

Andrew shares how classical Christian education shaped his own faith, from wrestling with comparison and difficult questions as a teenager to discovering a deeper understanding of Jesus, theology, and the Incarnation. Now, as a teacher, he is helping another generation of students wrestle with the Great Books, church history, Scripture, and the big questions of life.

Dr. Head takes us behind the scenes of School of the Ozarks and College of the Ozarks, including their unique work-education model, commitment to Christian discipleship, low-tech approach to learning, patriotic education, support for veterans, and emphasis on developing young adults who understand both the dignity of hard work and the responsibility of influence.

The conversation also gets incredibly practical for parents. How much technology should be in our children's education? What happens when kids are never allowed to be bored? How do phones affect their ability to think deeply? How can parents help their children develop a biblical worldview instead of simply inheriting someone else's beliefs? And what does it look like to raise kids who are prepared to influence culture without being consumed by it?

One of the most important themes throughout this conversation is simple: our children eventually have to own their faith for themselves.

Christian parenting and Christian education aren't about retreating from the world. They're about forming young people who know Christ, can think critically, work hard, communicate well, serve others, and understand what they believe and why.

And that formation doesn't begin with influence on a national stage.

        It begins at home.

It begins around the family dinner table.

        In Parts 1 & 2, we discuss:

        • Classical Christian education and the Great Books

        • Raising children with a strong biblical worldview
        • Helping teenagers make their Christian faith their own
        • Christian discipleship and spiritual formation
        • Truth, goodness, and beauty in education
        • College of the Ozarks and School of the Ozarks
        • The College of the Ozarks work-education model
        • Teaching kids the value of hard work
        • Christian parenting in today's culture
        • Technology, smartphones, AI, and education
        • Why boredom, stillness, and deep thinking matter
        • Low-tech education and handwritten learning
        • Patriotism, citizenship, and honoring America's veterans
        • Preparing Christian students for cultural influence
        • The importance of the family dinner table
        • Parental involvement in children's education
        • Building strong local Christian communities
        • Returning to Jesus as the center of cultural renewal

Whether your children attend public school, private Christian school, classical school, or are homeschooled, this conversation offers encouragement for parents who want to raise grounded, thoughtful, hardworking kids who love Jesus and are prepared to live faithfully in a changing culture.

      • Save a Seat for Charlie | Lucas Miles on Charlie Kirk’s Legacy and TPUSA Faith

One year after the martyrdom of Charlie Kirk, Pastor Lucas Miles shares the deeply personal story of their final days together—including Charlie’s invitation for Lucas to join him in Utah, the last moment they shared onstage, and the final message Charlie sent after sharing the gospel with leaders in Japan.

Lucas Miles—Vice President of Turning Point USA and Head of TPUSA Faith—joins our host & his sister, Hannah, for an honest conversation about Charlie Kirk’s faith, leadership, assassination, and lasting impact on the Church and the next generation.

Lucas recounts where he was when he received the call that Charlie had been shot, the fear and grief that followed, and what it has been like continuing the mission without the friend and leader who first called him into it. He also shares why the moment Charlie handed him the microphone has carried such profound meaning ever since.

But this conversation is about more than remembering Charlie. It is a challenge to Christians, churches, and parents to continue what mattered most to him: boldly sharing the gospel, speaking truth with grace, having difficult conversations, and raising children who know what they believe and are courageous enough to live it.

        Hannah and Lucas also discuss:

        • The unexpected way Charlie recruited Lucas to lead TPUSA Faith

        • What Charlie was really like behind the scenes
        • The leadership lessons he left with the Turning Point team
        • Charlie’s final gospel message from Japan
        • Lucas’s experience of grief, trauma, and the call that changed everything
        • Why bold churches are growing
        • Balancing courage, hard work, Sabbath, and biblical rest
        • The mission to raise the most Christian generation of all time
        • Why parents must be willing to say hard things with both grace and truth
        • The “Save a Seat for Charlie” campaign
        • The rise of paganism, Marxism, and occult spirituality among young people
        • Lucas’s New York Times bestselling book, The Pagan Threat

This is a deeply personal conversation about faith, courage, legacy, parenting, and what it means to carry the mission forward.

      • Pt. 2 - Tim Hawkins on Raising Kids, Chasing Success & Coming Back to Jesus
Tim Hawkins on Raising Kids, Chasing Success & Coming Back to Jesus

        PART 2 of 2:

You probably know Tim Hawkins for making families laugh. But this conversation goes somewhere much deeper.

In this two-part conversation, Hannah sits down with comedian Tim Hawkins for an unexpectedly honest discussion about parenting, marriage, raising kids in the faith, homeschooling, calling, success, burnout—and what happens when the life you've worked so hard to build begins taking more from you than you realized.

Tim shares what he and his wife learned raising their children and why they intentionally resisted becoming overly focused on producing a particular “result” in their kids. They talk about giving children room to wrestle with difficult questions about faith, maintaining boundaries without parenting from fear, and raising children who actually still want to come home when they're grown.

They also dig into humor and family life—including the surprising ways sarcasm can become a defense mechanism, why not every uncomfortable moment needs a joke, and how learning to communicate honestly can transform conflict in both parenting and marriage.

But as the conversation continues, Tim gets deeply personal about his own journey.

At the height of a demanding comedy career—touring extensively, managing employees, buses, travel and the constant pressure to create—Tim realized something wasn't right. His energy was depleted, his family was getting what was left of him, and eventually his marriage reached a breaking point.

Tim shares what that season taught him about success, being truly present with the people you love, knowing when something has run its course, and ultimately coming back to the simplicity of the Gospel.

This is a conversation about much more than comedy.

It's about raising kids without trying to control the outcome.

Building something without allowing it to consume you.

Knowing when to put down the hustle and be present.

And remembering that Christianity isn't ultimately about making our lives more successful—it's about Jesus.

There are plenty of laughs along the way (it is Tim Hawkins, after all), but stick with this conversation through Part Two and all the way to the very end. Some of the most vulnerable and encouraging moments happen in the final minutes.

        IN THIS CONVERSATION:

        • Tim Hawkins on parenting and raising four kids

        • Raising children who still want a relationship with you as adults
        • Why parents can't control the outcome of their children's faith
        • Giving kids permission to ask difficult questions about God
        • Boundaries versus authoritarian parenting
        • Tim and his family's experience with homeschooling
        • Raising teenagers without parenting from fear
        • Sarcasm, humor and emotional avoidance
        • Learning healthier communication in marriage and parenting
        • Why “always” and “never” can destroy productive conflict
        • Helping kids discover their individual gifts and calling
        • College, gap years and the changing path into adulthood
        • Why young adults face different challenges than previous generations
        • Tim's unconventional path from college baseball to comedy
        • Building a creative career without losing yourself
        • Fame, social media and staying authentic
        • Why clean comedy still matters
        • Tim Hawkins' Fist Bump comedy special
        • The emotional cost of success
        • What happens when work gets the best of you and your family gets the leftovers
        • Tim's deeply personal season of exhaustion and marital separation
        • Learning to be at work when you're at work—and home when you're home
        • Why success and Christian self-help aren't the Gospel
        • Returning to worship, gratitude and the finished work of Jesus
        • Knowing when a season, relationship or way of doing life has run its course
        • What Tim wishes he had understood sooner about following Jesus

        • Pt.1 - Tim Hawkins on Raising Kids, Chasing Success & Coming Back to Jesus
Tim Hawkins on Raising Kids, Chasing Success & Coming Back to Jesus

          PART 1 of 2:

          • Are We Failing Our Boys? Raising Strong Christian Men with Trail Life USA CEO Mark Hancock

Are we failing our boys by asking them to behave more like girls instead of understanding how God designed them?

If you have BOYS...this one is a must!

In this powerful conversation, Hannah sits down with Mark Hancock, CEO of Trail Life USA, to talk about the challenges facing boys today—and what Christian parents can do to raise strong, courageous, Christ-centered young men.

Mark shares why boys need movement, adventure, challenge, strong male role models, biblical truth, and opportunities to do hard things. Together, Hannah and Mark unpack the differences between boys and girls, why many traditional classrooms struggle to engage boys, the importance of fathers and godly male mentorship, and why lowering expectations may be hurting boys rather than helping them.

They also dive into the story behind Trail Life USA, the Christ-centered, boy-focused alternative to traditional scouting, and why the organization has remained committed to biblical values in a rapidly changing culture.

            • PART 2 - Unfiltered: Should We Rethink School AND Sunday School? GUEST Sam Sorbo

PART 2 of 2...Be sure to go back and listen to Part 2 after giving the first episode a listen!

What does it really mean to educate a child—and have parents handed too much of that responsibility over to schools?

In this bold conversation, Hannah sits down with Sam Sorbo, bestselling author, award-winning filmmaker, international speaker, host of The Sam Sorbo Show, and longtime advocate for educational freedom. Together, they take an unfiltered look at the state of education, the rise of homeschooling, parental rights, and why Sam believes families need to rethink the difference between schooling and truly educating a child.

Sam challenges parents to consider what education is actually supposed to produce—not simply good grades, test scores, or academic achievement, but capable, responsible adults who know how to think, build relationships, forgive, love, work, and navigate real life.

Hannah and Sam also discuss the growing concerns surrounding the public school system, protecting childhood innocence, government involvement in education, the myth that homeschoolers lack socialization, and why keeping our children close gives parents more opportunities for discipleship and real-world learning.

And the conversation doesn't stop at school. Sam brings that same challenge into the church, asking Christian parents to consider whether we've outsourced too much of our children's spiritual formation as well.

This episode is a powerful reminder that parents are their children's primary teachers and disciplers. Whether you homeschool, send your children to public or private school, or are simply questioning what education should look like for your family, this conversation will challenge you to think differently about who—and what—is shaping your kids.

              In this episode:

              • Sam Sorbo's case for educational freedom and homeschooling

              • The difference between schooling and true education

              • Public schools, parental rights, and protecting childhood innocence

              • Why parents shouldn't assume they aren't qualified to teach their children

              • Homeschool socialization and real-world learning

              • Raising responsible, capable adults instead of prolonging adolescence

              • Why discipleship requires proximity

              • Sunday school, family worship, and parents' role in spiritual formation

              • Taking back responsibility for the education and discipleship of our children

Upright Christian Parenting equips parents to raise children with a bold biblical worldview in today's sideways culture.
