  • S4E20: "Greenville, South Carolina" (feat. Steve Eager & Friends)
Happy Monday UMMPod Nation!! We have a special treat for you all today, as we are featuring Steve Eager, the man behind the original song/viral video sensation, "Greenville"!

His tribute to our hometown of Greenville, SC is an upbeat catchy tune that quickly circulated the internet and was listened to/shared by thousands of Upstate residents causing it to "go viral".  The chorus features a memorable, positive hook, simply stating: "I Love Greenville, South Carolina".

We had a great time talking to Steve about his musical background and the Upstate music scene!

Stay tuned! Next week we are featuring the superbly talented psych-folk band Brother Oliver, as we sit down with Andrew Oliver and discuss the band, their new Guiness Book World Record, and the captivating documentary about chasing said record.  Thank you UMMPod Nation!! We'll see you next week!

  • S4E19: "Condiments" (feat. Sweet Spine & John Atkins)

Today's episode features an exciting double dose of talent in the Upstate music scene!
Our first artist is an excellent up-and-coming alt/grunge rock band, Sweet Spine!  We sit down with Fox and Evelyn from the band and discuss their unique sound, recent releases, and inspirations.  Enjoy their killer new track, "Darkness".

After our chat with Sweet Spine, we interview another great musician in the scene, John Atkins! (John is actually Evelyn from Sweet Spine's father)

John primarily plays guitar for multiple bands in the area including Funcle and The Sound Committee.  John and I discuss his current gigs, his bandmates, and the scene in general.. as well as his character on the hit ABC Comedy, 'The Goldbergs'.

The show is fantastic, and John's character, "Johnny Atkins", is certainly one of the most memorable ones in the entire cast. A personal favorite of ours.

  • S4E15: "State of Emergency: The SC Venue Crisis Special"

Happy Friday UMMPod Nation! Today's special episode focuses on the current state of The SC Venue Crisis.

We've discussed the SC Venue Crisis on the show in recent episodes. However, with the recent announcement of the closure of Smiley's (another local favorite), we felt the need to propel this issue to the forefront once and for all.

For those of you unaware of the current situation:  Current SC laws and legislation are requiring businesses to pay unheard of amounts from insurance/liabilities, and have been steadily increasing these amounts over the last several years (only to fill the pockets of a wealthy few).  This is leading to the closure of many amazing local venues across the state, and its really starting to hit home.   The time is now to act, and the SC Venue Crisis a.k.a. "The Prohibition Coalition" is fighting back to sustain the livelihood of the folks that make this industry their life's work.

Follow them @SC Venue Crisis or @Save SC Small Venues and Bars, or visit their linktree: Linktr.ee/scvenuecrisis.  There are multiple town hall meetings across the state addressing these issues as well.  Please feel free to email a local government representative (SC Venue Crisis' page offers plenty of resources) and let your voice be heard!

Thank you UMMPod Nation! Anything you can do to support the hard-working musicians and business owners means the world to all of us!  See you next week!

After a wonderful interview with Miss Geminii Dragon, Karen and I discuss some of her recent events and upcomings. (And I secretly added a song of hers from a few years ago, "All over you")

South Carolina Venue Crisis on the show to get all the details on Wednesday's Town Hall meeting at Tribble's and everything behind the SC  Venue Crisis.   Sheila is a heavy contributor to the local music scene, and is fore fronting this movement that affects every one of us in the Upstate and SC in general.
