In the coming months, the Supreme Court will decide whether the some 700,000 immigrants can legally remain in the United States. They have temporary status under a program known as DACA. It allows individuals who were brought to the U.S. as minors to work legally and defer deportation for renewable two year periods. As Ciara Long reports, decision could have consequences for public education.

New York City Representative Jose Serrano is retiring from Congress after three decades. Community organizer Samelys López is one of more than a dozen Democrats vying to replace him. Lopez was recently endorsed by the New York City Chapter of the Democrati Socialists of America. She’s also part of the wave of progressive women of color who are running for state and local office.

Columbia University has one of the oldest and richest Yiddish programs in the United States. The major was reinstated at Columbia in 2003, with two seniors graduating with Yiddish degrees that year.
