DEPUTY SUCCESSFULLY ADMINISTERS ANTI-OPIATE DRUG NALOXONE TO OVERDOSE PATIENTNews Release from Yamhill Co. Sheriff's OfficeOn January 3rd, at around 2:30p.m., Yamhill County Sheriff's Deputies responded to an unknown medical problem at a residence in the 400 block of SW Mill Street in the City of Sheridan. Upon arrival, Deputies found a 22 year old male unresponsive in the garage at this location. Due to suspicions of heroin use, Deputy Jacob Herr administered the anti-overdose drug Naloxone (also known as Narcan), which deputies have been carrying since mid-November of 2015. Naloxone eliminates the effects of opiates such as heroin, allowing for a lifesaving recovery in many instances. The victim in this incident immediately responded to the drug and became alert and responsive. A short time later, emergency medical personnel arrived and continued to treat the male, eventually transporting him to the hospital. "With this one dose of Naloxone this program has become a success" said Sheriff Tim Svenson. "This man has another chance at life which he may not have been afforded. We thank those who partnered with us in making this lifesaving drug available."
