ODOT: Valley, No. Coast: U.S. 30 is open in both directions at milepost 38 east of Rainier after a landslide closed the road earlier in the evening. Crews were able to clear the road but the area remains unstable and is being monitored. Travelers throughout Northwest Oregon should be cautious and prepared for hazards such as slides, downed trees and debris and high standing water

ODOT: Valley, No. Coast: U.S. 30 is closed in both directions at milepost 38 east of Rainier because of a landslide. Thisis the same location where a landslide closed the road last week also during heavy rains. There are local detours for autos. However, large trucks will need to use the Lewis and Clark Bridge between Rainier and Longview, and I-5 to get around the closure. Also, U.S. 101 and OR 6 is closed in Tillamook due to flooding caused by the Wilson River overflowing on to the highways. A local detour is available to get around the closures. There are reports of numerous areas of high water throughout Northwest Oregon. Travelers should drive with caution and slow down in these areas.

According to family members and other witnesses, Jordan was last seen around his apartment in McMinnville on Thursday, December 10th. He was reportedly wearing a t-shirt (unknown color and unknown other clothing) and he had his hair "spiked" at that time. He may be wearing or carrying a red "REI" rain jacket with gray accent color. Jordan typically walks everywhere since he does not own or drive a car. Jordan has been diagnosed with schizophrenia and he has always been very deliberate about taking his medications. He reportedly does not have a cell phone and it appears he has not been back to his apartment since he was last seen on December 10th. Jordan did not show up for a prearranged meeting with his parents on December 11th and he has not shown up for work for multiple days, which is all out of cha racter for him. OREGON 138E, 230 AND 62 TO REMAIN CLOSED MONDAY NIGHT (PHOTO)News Release from ODOT: SW OregonPosted on FlashAlert: December 14th, 2015 2:39 PMState highways -- Oregon 138E, 230 and 62 -- in the High Cascades will remain closed as ODOT continues work to clear hazards. ODOT Maintenance Manager Dan Metz said the agency's goal is to reopen Oregon 138E (North Umpqua Highway) by Tuesday night. Additional ODOT maintenance crews were called in Monday to expedite reopening the highways. Using graders, ODOT cut paths through the snow for utility crews and contracted timber fallers Monday. "We can't clear the snow until you we get the fallen trees and power lines out of the way first," said Metz. "Our plan is to reopen the North Umpqua Highway first and then concentrate on Oregon 230. "We're dealing mainly with deep snow near U.S. 97. From the west side of Oregon 138E, the hazards are downed trees, power lines and snow." The three highways were closed on Saturday, Dec. 12 for public safety due to blizzard conditions. Snow, mudslides, and fallen trees and power lines continued through Sunday. Advance warning signs were posted, directing travelers to use alternate routes from U.S. 97 to Interstate 5.

TWO KILLED IN CRASH ON HIGHWAY 99W - POLK COUNTYNews Release from Oregon State Police Posted on FlashAlert: December 11th, 2015 6:48 AMOn December 10, 2015 at about 5:30PM, OSP Troopers and emergency personnel responded to the report of a two vehicle crash on Highway 99W at milepost 52 (north of Monmouth). Upon emergency crews arriving on scene they discovered two vehicles traveling in opposite directions had collided. The two occupants of a 2002 Honda Civic, an adult male and adult female, were pronounced deceased on scene. Preliminary information indicates the Honda was traveling northbound, when for unknown reasons, swerved into the path of a southbound 2002 Volkswagen Passat. The Volkswagen struck the Honda on the passenger side and both vehicles came to rest on the shoulder. The operator of the Volkswagen, Kimberly L WILLIAMS, age 49, of Keizer was taken to Salem Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The families of the deceased have not yet been notified. Their names will be withheld until that time. OSP was assisted by Amity Fire and the Oregon Department of Transportation.

Salem Police Dept.: Salem Police Tactical units are currently searching for a possible shooting suspect in the area of Sunnyside Rd SE/Valleywood Dr SE. Anyone in this area is asked to secure residences and stay inside, and all others to avoid the area if at all possible. Sunnyside Rd is closed between Fabry Rd and Mildred Ln. More information will be released as it becomes available.

Newberg police used a ramming technigue yesterday afternoon to stop a suspected impaired driver from going the wrong way on city streets.   The call came into dispatch at 2:37pm, called in as a DUI from a citizen about a driver who could not stay in their lane of travel.  Car was driving up to 25 miles per hour between Sherwood and Newberg.    Offer caught up to the vehicle near Villa Road westbound on PDX Road.  Driver continued westbound on Hancock, driving onto 2nd Way and veered left onto old highway 99 through a trailer park.   Officers used a spike strip which deflated both tires on the passenger side of the vehicle.     Driver continued driving out of the trailer park and was driving the wrong way on West First Street near Morton.  The driver stopped, officers approached the vehicle, and the driver drove off.  Officers decided to use the patrol car to hit the rear fender of the suspect vehicle causing it to spin.  Driver then took off towards Dundee.  Officer hit the suspect vehicle again, this time causing it to spin out.      A second police SUV then blocked the exit and a third patrol car pinning the suspect vehicle so it would not move. three police vehicles were damged.  The driver was identified as James Rolando Tappero of Lynnwood Washington.  officers say he appeared to be impaired and was taken to Providence Newberg Hospital.   Oregon State Police are handling the investigation.
