McMinnville Fire Department responded to the report of a gas leak at 1253 Tall Oaks Drive in McMinnville at 10:17PM December 3rd 2015. Upon arrival, the FD found smoke coming from one side of a duplex. The first arriving crew made entry and proceeded to find and attack the fire located in the kitchen area. Crews located and rescued the occupant from the smoke filled residence where the fire originated. The occupant of the residence with the fire was transported to Portland for Carbon Monoxide poisoning. Firefighters continued fire attack on the impacted residence and teams conducted search to ensure everyone was out of the hom es. The fire had extended into the attic area of the structure. Damage is heavy in the unit that the fire originated in and the secondary unit has some smoke damage. Estimated loss is $60,000. McMinnville Fire Department responded with 5 apparatus and 20 personnel to the scene. The last operations units were cleared at 11:22 PM. Cause of the fire is determined to be from unattended cooking. The residence did not have a working smoke detector in the home. Remember that smoke detector save lives. Make sure you have working smoke detectors in your home and that you remember test and maintain them properly.
