FOREST GROVE HIGH SCHOOL LOCKDOWN LIFTEDNews Release from Forest Grove PoliceAt approximately 1015hrs this date, two FGHS students reported what they thought "possibly" looked like part of a weapon sticking out of the waistband of a student in the school. The school was immediately placed in lockdown. An armed FGPD School Resource Officer already inside the school coordinated the response of additional police units to secure the area while an investigation took place. The student in question was located and it was confirmed that no weapon or threat was present. The lockdown was lifted within 30 minutes. Following this incident, an unrelated medical call at the school may have further alarmed students, staff and parents with medical equipment arriving at the school. Students and staff were not affected and there was no cause for further alarm.Law enforcement along with the general public are at a heightened state of awareness following yesterday's tragedy at the UCC campus in Douglas County. Forest Grove Police will always take such reports seriously and will take every precaution necessary to ensure the safety of our students and school staff members.
