Sheridan Fire was dispatched at 12:47 PM on a Wildland Fire at the Monroe Oaks Mill, 2100 NW Chip Yard Rd, Sheridan, OR.  Crews from Sheridan Fire District, West Valley Fire District responded.   Callers reported seeing flames and smoke coming from the property near one of the containers.  The duty officer was the first on scene and reported to have a slow moving grass fire that was spreading to the east, working its way towards the office building to the west and a large container partially involved as well. The Container is the size of a semi truck trailer and is being used as a kiln to dry the lumber the mill produces, only the exterior/insulation was involved in the fire. Units worked quickly to stop the spread of the fire and were able to keep the fire from reaching the office building, the fire got within two feet of the structure.  The crews also were able to stop the spread of the fire before it hit the adjoining field of tall dry grass which would have spread the fire very quickly.  The fire was under control within fifteen minutes and we were able to turn the scene back over to the property owners within the hour.  We had eight fire apparatus on scene and a total of 15 firefighters.  We estimate the property damage to be around a thousand dollars with most of the damage being done to the container.  The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.     We would like to thank Amity Fire District for moving up their apparatus to cover Sheridan Fire while we worked to resolve this incident.  We also want to encourage everybody to have a safe and fun fourth of July weekend.  Drink extra water and try to stay cool the best you can.  It is hot and the vegetation is very dry right now so be extremely cautious with fireworks and other sources of ignition/flame.  If you are going to light off your own fireworks please make sure the area is free of anything that will burn and keep a shovel and a good source of water nearby.

YAMHILL COUNTY DEPUTY SHOOTS MAN AFTER TRAFFIC STOPNews Release from McMinnville Police Dept.Posted on FlashAlert: July 1st, 2015 11:17 AMAt approximately 7:30 this morning, officers from multiple Yamhill County agencies responded to the scene of an officer involved shooting that occurred near the intersection of Hwy 99W and Doran Drive, McMinnville.One male is deceased at the scene. He is identified as Kevin Lamont Judson DOB: 8/24/1990 (24) of Dayton,.The incident followed a traffic stop where the male fled from the scene of the stop.  Deputy Richard Broyles, a 16 year veteran of the Yamhill County Sheriff's Office gave chase and was the deputy involved. The incident is being investigated by the Yamhill County Major Crime Response Team (MCRT). The MCRT is made up of investigators from the McMinnville Police Department, the Newberg Dundee Police Department, the Yamhill County District Attorney, the Yamhill County Sheriff's Office, the Yamhill Police Department, the Carlton Police Department and the Oregon State Police. KLYC has visited with persons on location who have talked to first hand eyewitnesses.  The following narration is pieced together from second hand accounts, and has not yet been confirmed.After the traffic stop, a suspect ran across the street, past Christensen Auto Sales and tried to pull open the door of a small distribution office of the Oregonian newspaper.   The person inside the building saw a deputy was giving chase and did not want the person coming inside.  He held the door shut.  The deputy then tased the suspect.   The suspect apparently then got into the deputy's patrol car and tried to speed away.  Somewhere in this series of events, four shots were fired according to a business employee in the area.  Facebook postings relayed to KLYC from friends of Judson state he was wanted on a failure to appear warrant and did not want to go back to jail.
