The Yamhill County Major Crimes Team is investigating this incident.  Tim Svenson of the Yamhill County Sheriffs office says they are still trying to figure out how the two men knew each other and what may have triggered this incident.

Sheriff's OfficeFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE November 14, 2014 Yamhill County Major Crime Response Team investigates Officer Involved Shooting On November 15, 2014 at around 11:08 pm, the City of McMinnville Police responded to a reported stabbing at the 7-Eleven located across from the Linfield Campus. When they arrived, they located a 20 yr old Linfield student who had been stabbed multiple times by an unknown suspect, who had already fled the scene. While McMinnville Officers were on scene, the suspect came back and confronted the officers, which resulted in the McMinnville Officers shooting the suspect. The stabbing victim was transported via Life Flight to Oregon Health & Science University where he later died of his injuries. The suspect was transported to Willamette Valley Medical Center where he later died as a result of his injuries. The Yamhill County Major Crime Response Team (MCRT) is investigating the incident, with the Yamhill County Sheriff's Office taking lead. Assisting in the investigation is the Yamhill County District Attorney's Office, the Crime Victims' Advocates, the Newberg-Dundee Police Department, the City of Yamhill Police Department, the Oregon State Police, and the City of McMinnville Police Department. The Oregon State Police Crime Lab has also been requested to assist with processing the scene. Names of the victims and the officers involved will not be released at this time. The Sheriff's Office is working closely with Linfield officials to ensure proper notification to students and staff. Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are continuing the investigation into Monday morning's head-on crash on Highway 99W in Polk County near Orrs Corner Road. On Monday, November 10, 2014, at approximately 7:40 a.m., troopers were dispatched to a two-vehicle, head-on crash near milepost 59 on Highway 99W in Polk County, near Orrs Corner Road. Preliminary investigation indicates AGUILAR D. DOMINGUEZ, 18, of Cornelius, was operating a 2003 Hyundai Tiburon southbound on HWY 99 in heavy fog when he attempted to pass in the oncoming lane. He collided head-on with a 2007 Saturn Ion driven by EMILY R. BEATLEY, 36, of Monmouth, that was northbound. DOMINGUEZ had minimal injuries and was transported from the scene via private vehicle. BEATLEY, who was 24 weeks pregnant at the time of the crash, was transported via ground ambulance to Salem Memorial Hospital; the unborn fetus did not survive the crash. The crash blocked one lane of traffic for about one hour during the investigation. No citations have been issued to date and the crash is still under investigation. OSP was assisted at the scene by Polk County Fire District #1, the Oregon Department of Transportation and the Polk County District Attorney's Office.

At about 0430 on November 12th, 2014, someone placed a propane canister along an exterior wall of Community Corrections near 7th and Ford Streets. The canister was exploded and caused minor property damage to equipment near the buil ding. No one was injured by the explosion and the building is undamaged and open for business. McMinnville Police Officers are investigating the incident and anyone with information about this incident is asked to call McMinnville Police Department at 503-434-7307.
