Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are continuing the investigation into Monday morning's head-on crash on Highway 99W in Polk County near Orrs Corner Road. On Monday, November 10, 2014, at approximately 7:40 a.m., troopers were dispatched to a two-vehicle, head-on crash near milepost 59 on Highway 99W in Polk County, near Orrs Corner Road. Preliminary investigation indicates AGUILAR D. DOMINGUEZ, 18, of Cornelius, was operating a 2003 Hyundai Tiburon southbound on HWY 99 in heavy fog when he attempted to pass in the oncoming lane. He collided head-on with a 2007 Saturn Ion driven by EMILY R. BEATLEY, 36, of Monmouth, that was northbound. DOMINGUEZ had minimal injuries and was transported from the scene via private vehicle. BEATLEY, who was 24 weeks pregnant at the time of the crash, was transported via ground ambulance to Salem Memorial Hospital; the unborn fetus did not survive the crash. The crash blocked one lane of traffic for about one hour during the investigation. No citations have been issued to date and the crash is still under investigation. OSP was assisted at the scene by Polk County Fire District #1, the Oregon Department of Transportation and the Polk County District Attorney's Office.
