Looking at the stairway to Heaven - Genesis 28:10-19a
Far too often we try to set goals for things we want to accomplish in our lives and end up stressing ourselves out and feeling like failures when we don’t live up to those goals
Could this be an opportunity to strengthen our relationship and dependence on God?

  • Pleading with the Lord - Genesis 25:19-34
Esau swore an oath, thereby selling all his rights as the firstborn to his brother, Jacob. Genesis 25:34 Then Jacob gave Esau some bread and lentil stew. Esau ate the meal, then got up and left”. … So, what is the lesson here? … Well, we can easily fall into the same trap, when we see something, we want, our first impulse seems to always be… to get it… and get it NOW!
You might call this freedom of will… but, that is not necessarily God’s will. At first, we feel intensely satisfied and sometimes even powerful because we have obtained what we set out to get… But here regret might set in quickly, because: as it says: immediate pleasure often loses sight of the future…

  • God’s will in a marriage - Genesis 24:34-38, 42-49, 58-61
    God’s will in a marriage - Genesis 24:34-38, 42-49, 58-61
Seeking God’s will and trusting His timing is always best. For those out there searching for a spouse, like Abraham for his son Isaac, we need to have God as part of the equation… as part of the dating process… we need to place our faith in Him along with waiting, praying, and obeying and you know something… from personal experience… it’s all worth it.

  • When God tests your Faith! – Genesis 22:1-14
I had to wonder this week: Is God testing us right now? Did He test us 20 years ago, or three years ago or is He testing us with Covid? And then: was the test for me? Or for the world? And finally: how did we do? Then comes the realization: God is testing us, not to trip us up, but to deepen our capacity to obey Him.

  • God Hears - Genesis 21:8-21
    God Hears - Genesis 21:8-21
    Some things to think about:
    1) The problems that arise when we think God’s promises are on hold.
    2) The problems that arise when we don’t’ wait for God’s promises to be fulfilled.
    3) God’s mercy extends to others affected by choices we make for our own lives.

  • Take a risk, believe in Him! - Genesis 18:1-15, 21:1-7
Take a risk, believe in Him! - Genesis 18:1-15, 21:1-7
The problem with promises is that you have to trust them. You have to believe that they will be fulfilled and live as if you believe that they will be fulfilled, before they can do you any good. But we don't like to do that. We are cautious people. We want something to be thoroughly proven before we will believe that it is true

Unable to visualize God’s Call - Genesis 12:1-9
Here is what Abraham did: he obeyed, walking away from his native home because of God’s promise of even greater blessings in the future. God may be trying to lead you to a place of greater service. Don’t let the comfort and security of your present position make you miss God’s plan for you.
