The Utah Mammoth went 3-0 this week, beating Buffalo and Toronto, then winning in Edmonton for Utah's first regulation win ever over the Oilers. Tonight Connor McDavid and Edmonton come to the Delta Center for the rematch. Jay Stevens and Casey Ruff of Boundless Body Radio pull up a chair at The Kitchen Table to break it all down.
Jay and Casey get into how Utah's top line shut down Auston Matthews, why scoring from all four lines matters more than first-line points, Logan Cooley's between-the-legs pass to Clayton Keller, and Barrett Hayton's blue-collar goal off Kailer Yamamoto. Jay, a former emergency backup goaltender, breaks down that goal from the goalie's side, then digs into Karel Vejmelka's aggressive style and why ending up on your belly is a goalie's last resort.
Also: flushing the Boston loss, Daniil But's growth, the Carcone-Yamamoto rotation, whether Vejmelka or Sebastian Cossa starts tonight, Toronto benching No. 1 pick Gavin McKenna, Zeev Buium's tough start in Vancouver, a loaded Central Division, players to watch, and score picks for Oilers vs. Mammoth.

Six games in 10 nights, five on the road, one ugly night in Boston, and the Mammoth still came home 4-2. Jay Stevens brings back Utah hockey historian Dave Soutter (Salt Lake Golden Eagles, 2002 Olympic scorekeeper) to talk everyone off the ledge.
Jay and Dave break down Sebastian Cossa's first NHL starts from a goalie's point of view, what really went wrong at TD Garden, and why the answer is "flush it, don't panic." They grade the road trip, talk about the Buffalo bounce-back and the new-look third line with Kailer Yamamoto, Barrett Hayton and Anders Lee, and ask why it keeps coming down to Yamamoto or Carcone.
Also: Shesterkin's injury and what it could mean for Connor Hellebuyck's future, why Dave doesn't see Utah chasing him, a Toronto preview with Nylander, Matthews and Gavin McKenna, McKenna's NHL "pay cut," the NCAA's proposed limit on import scholarships, the European influence on the game, and what changed on the Mammoth power play. Plus score picks for Toronto.

Trevor Lewis grew up in Cottonwood Heights, in a house across the street from the rink. He was drafted 17th overall by the Los Angeles Kings in 2006 — still the highest any Utah-born player has ever been picked — and went on to play 1,034 NHL games and win two Stanley Cups.
He retired this past April. On September 15 he joined the Utah Mammoth as a video scout and youth and amateur hockey ambassador.
He sat down with us to talk about all of it: walking away after 17 years, coming home, and what it would actually take to get more Utah kids on the ice.
