This week on our Happily Ever After podcast we discuss the return of Milah (Rachel Shelley), Rumple’s wife and the mother of Neal. We get some nice backstory with Rumplestiltskin (Robert Carlyle) as his history of dealmaking is coming back to haunt him, all the way back to his very first one. Also, Emma (Jennifer Morrison) finally finds Killian Jones (Colin O’Donoghue), but their reunion isn’t the end of their trip to Underbrooke when they find who Hades has named upon the 3 gravestones.

On this weeks Agents of Steranko podcast we discuss “Inside Man”, episode 11 of Agents of SHIELD season 3. Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) and General Talbot (Adrian Pasdar) head to an alien symposium hoping to find Gideon Malick’s allies. We always love when the gang heads out on spy missions, and this one doesn’t let us down. Talbot is a fun foil for Coulson and we also get the surprising return of Carl Creel, The Absorbing Man. With Bobbi sneaking around the outside of buildings, May sneaking in and out of hotel rooms, and Hunter bringing along some extra fire power we couldn’t have asked for more in this fun and engaging episode.

Coulson and Fitz have returned from Maveth and are on the hunt for Gideon Malick. Grant Ward has also returned, but the Hydra entity “Hive” has taken over, and he is hungry. And finally, The Secret Warriors come together with the return of Joey Gutierrez and the addition of Yo-Yo Rodriguez as the team heads to Bogota, Columbia. This was a strong return with a surprising flash forward and a strong use of language as the SHIELD team goes global.

This week on our Happily Ever After podcast we find that Hercules is stuck in the Underworld with his own unfinished business and he has a past with Snow White. Bailee Madison returns as the young Princess Snow White and needs to learn how to become a brave leader. Luckily she has a demigod wandering the nearby forest to help train her in the bow, and more importantly in how to lead and inspire her people. We also get some great character movement as Ginnifer Goodwin gets to throw off the cautious cloak of Mary Margaret and return to the fearless bandit Snow White.

Once Upon a Time is back from it’s winter break with it’s 100th episode. On this weeks Happily Ever After podcast we follow Emma and the the entire Storybrooke team into the underworld on a mission to save Captain Hook in Season 5, Episode 12, “Souls of the Departed”. Everyone except Belle is on the hunt for Hook, but the focus of the 100th episode is placed squarely on Regina and her parents, Cora and Henry. We get more great scenes from Lana Parrilla and a few surprise quest appearances and expect more to come in the episodes ahead.

On this weeks Happily Ever After podcast we talk about the Winter Finale “Swan Song”, episode 11 of Once Upon a Time Season 5. Dark Hook has brought all the Dark Ones into Storybrooke from the Underworld. Emma and Regina try to convince Killian that dooming all our heroes is a step back from his redemptive path, but he isn’t listening. Although this episode has some terrific moments, most notably the great performance at the very end by Jennifer Morrison and Colin O’Donoghue, it also seemed to step back some of the excellent character development across this half season. We discuss the return of Mr. Gold/Rumplestilskin to the dark side, the continued duping of Belle and the lack of any Camelot conclusion alongside the excellent Regina scenes and that terrific end sacrifice by Killian.

This weeks Agents of Steranko podcast dives into “Closure”, episode 9 of Agents of SHIELD and we were floored. From the shocking start to Coulson pretending he is Captain American leaping without a parachute, this lead up to the mid-season finale never slowed down. Neither of us were thrilled with Ward and his latest victim, and it sent Coulson off the rails. But we can’t wait to see what happens as Coulson and Ward face off on the alien planet as if they are Kirk and the Gorn.

Emma has to mend the family wounds from her own Dark One actions as she finally understands that the only way any of them will survive is by working together. This was a great episode all by itself, but it was the amazing ending and arrival of even more Dark Ones that really surprised us and has us so excited for the winter finale.

On this weeks Happily Ever After podcast we talk about the return of Mulan and Ruby on “Many Heads, One Tale”, episode 9 of Once Upon a Time. This episode was a departure from the main cast as we followed the story of Merida as she tries to save her kingdom. It’s a fun little romp away from the Dark Swan and a welcome breather after the intense reveal about Captain Hook at the end of “Birth”. We both loved seeing the return of Mulan and Ruby and hope we get more of them in the future. The history of Brave’s Merida and her father the King was interesting, but it all did seem more like a small pause before the fast approaching mid-season finale.
