V3

Pray for me. I'm praying for you. I am interceding for you through my relationship with God and his Son, Jesus Christ.

Prayer sounds so simple and yet it is so powerful. In our lives and in that of others. Just that simple expression, "Offer it up", can be transformative when that offering is made on behalf of others.

As a follow up episode to "What is a Nun?", we dig into intercessory prayer with our panel.

If you listen to this episode and find that you didn't know what a nun was, you are in good company. Some of the most devout Catholics don't understand the difference between a "sister" and a "nun".

It should be inspiring to all of us that we have these consecrated women dedicated to interceding for us and this fallen world we live in...

Thanks for clicking in and let us know what questions you might have!

...At long last. A clerical clarification to end all clarifying episodes. Father Kramer joins us for a lightning round of clarifications for our last 3 episodes. Father recently accepted the role of Religious Advisor for our Lay Dominican group and is sharing his "gift of availability" with us and with YOU. For those of you that have been with us from the start, many apologies for the lag in publishing as we worked through some issues! For those of you that are binging V3, you won't miss a beat.

....or "What should I wear to Mass?"

You have likely seen women wearing veils in Mass. We recently got this question from an avid listener and also spent some time on the attire recommendations for Mass that we can all consider.

What is the necklace all the Catholics seem to carry around? They don't even wear it!

We are leading off this season with prayer and the Most Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary. There are few prayers outside of the Mass, more powerful than the Rosary. Given to us by our Blessed Mother herself as a weapon for the spiritual battles we all have to face, the Rosary can be confounding and intimidating for new Catholics. We are here to help you take up this spiritual sword with strength and confidence.

The Great Commission

"Go, make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." Matthew 28:19-20

One of the harder ministries to recruit for is religious education and sponsors for OCIA. Perhaps it's because of the committment on a Sunday morning but it might be because we don't think we are capable or need to be in the church longer or have letters behind our names.

You don't need credentials to catechise Kindergartners or high schoolers for that matter. And you certainly know more about being Catholic than most adult catechumens. You just have to be willing to help and take up the Great Commission that Jesus gives to all of us to build up The Church by teaching the Faith.

Your DRE will love you for it!

Dominicans, Francisans and Jesuits... Oh my!

Pope Leo is "Augustinian". He was the Master of that Order before he was Bishop and eventually our Holy Father. Is the Pope Catholic? :) Yes, of course, he's Augustinian Catholic.

Our local bishop is Franciscan. Wait, I thought Bishops had to be Catholic.... :) Yes, of course, he's a Franciscan Catholic.

The panelists are all Lay Dominicans. But isn't this a Catholic podcast? Yes. We are Dominican Catholics! We are members of the Dominican Order, what most of us describe as our Dominican family. It's an 800 year old Order of Preachers.

So what do all these different flavors of Catholic represent? What even is an "Order"? What purpose do they serve?

If you are listening and at all curious, we expect you'd have these questions. In our Fly Wheel, this falls nicely into the pillar of Community.

So... You listened to the episode on which Bible to read and bought the perfect one (or two) for you. While just reading will be fruitful, why not study the Word as well?

But with so many resources out there, how do you study the Bible as a new Confirmed Catholic? How does (or should...) a Catholic study the Bible? Is there a Catholic way to study the Word?

We talk about that and introduce the Catechism of the Catholic Church, a resource that every Catholic should have and be able to use for study.

Enjoy the episode and thanks for listening!
