Coach Johnsen has proven to be a very stable and competitive high school basketball coach in the greater Milwaukee area. He has a love for the game that is hard to match. Over the years his conference has had the last 4 state champions in it. It also included 3 players now playing at Duke, Nebraska, and Iowa State. We do a deep dive into coaching against high level players.

We also spent time having a vulnerable discussion about AAU. It's a quandary parents everywhere are having. How much is necessary? When is it too much/costly? Who is it for? We talked about the pros and cons. I hope you are moved to take a side and even share it with us!

Over the holiday season I did not have a guest. I figured it was a good time to discuss my history as a high school basketball coach and how I came to the idea of this podcast. Leadership and coaching is a lifelong passion of mine. I have a love of storytelling. Those things combine to make a great podcast. This is a sparknote recap on how I went from a JV coach to Varsity coach to podcast creator.

The second half I share my thoughts on the massive decline in NBA TV ratings this year. Some thoughts are completely independent, some are reflections of current theories from NBA media.

Brian is coming off back to back high school basketball state title appearances in Wisconsin. His team is now 9-0 and known as the best defensive team in the state.

After large amounts of growth he established his brand as a premiere training source in Southeast Wisconsin. Due to the success he is create an online training platform.
