This week we're discussing chapters 100 through THE END! In the final chapters of House of Flame and Shadow, the dust finally settles—and a new world begins to take shape. Bryce wakes to Hunt at her side, choosing love and partnership over power, while Hunt himself turns down the chance to lead the angels, proving he’s done being anyone’s weapon. Bryce briefly returns to Prythian, handing over the Mask, Truth-Teller, and the Starsword to Nesta, hinting at deeper ties between their worlds and the mystery of her eight-pointed star. Back home, she closes the Northern Rift and sends Hel’s armies away for good, sealing Midgard’s fate in its own hands. Then, in a stunning move, Bryce abolishes the Fae monarchy entirely—dismantling the royal houses, redistributing her father’s wealth, and announcing the formation of a Fae democracy with a senate. As Ruhn and Lidia build a home for themselves and the boys, the antidote production continues, the power grid is reimagined, and Bryce opens her own gallery—proving this isn’t just the end of a war, but the beginning of a completely new era. And in true Maas fashion, the surprise arrival of twenty-four pegasi reminds us that magic—and possibility—are far from finished.

Welcome to House of Flame and Shadow by Sarah J. Maas!

This week we're discussing chapters 97 through 99! Bryce opens a portal to her own black hole to consume the one created by the destroyed core—but gets sucked into space herself, watching the Asteri fall before grabbing Rigelus and dragging him toward annihilation with her. Hunt realizes Bryce gave him the Mask because a piece of her power lives in him, dons a mech-suit with Shahar’s help, blasts Rigelus into the black hole before racing Bryce’s lifeless body back through a portal literally being held open by Aidas, Apollion… and apparently everyone they love. Back on Midgard, Hunt and Hypaxia can’t restart Bryce’s heart until Jesiba sacrifices her own immortal life, meeting Bryce in a realm of light and explaining that because Bryce gave herself to save the world, the world—via the Archesian amulet—is allowing a life-for-life trade. Bryce inherits Jesiba’s gallery and legacy, and is sent back, resurrected after paying the ultimate price.

Welcome to House of Flame and Shadow by Sarah J. Maas!

This week we're discussing chapters 94 through 96!  Lidia unleashes her long-hidden fire power—tied to an ancient Fae bloodline—to save her sons and devastate Pollux, nearly sacrificing herself before the fire sprites and allies help turn the tide. Ruhn takes the antidote, discovers he can heal with his shadows, and fights his way back to the others as the resistance regroups. Meanwhile, Bryce weakens from teleporting until Ithan delivers Connor’s final bullet—the key to destroying the Asteri’s core—forcing Bryce to send Hunt away and face the Asteri alone. Despite Rigelus warning that destroying the core will end the world and offering her power instead, Bryce realizes it’s a kill switch and takes the shot anyway. She drains Rigelus’s stolen firstlight and opens a portal that drags the core and Asteri away—but Bryce is pulled in too, leaving her fate unknown.

Welcome to House of Flame and Shadow by Sarah J. Maas!

This week we're discussing chapters 91 through 93! Tharion helps the group escape and later reunites with Lidia while searching for the antidotes he dropped, secretly saving her with one of the last doses as Pollux forces Ruhn to help hunt her down. Bryce and Hunt reach the core and discover the seven power conduits tied to the Asteri—two now empty—while Rigelus’s remains terrifyingly full. Chapter 92 raises the stakes as a crystal shields the core, forcing Bryce and Hunt to distract Rigelus long enough for Hunt to melt through it, while Ithan is blasted away and loses the antidotes he carried. At the same time, Pollux reveals he knows about Lidia’s sons and plans to kill them, pushing Lidia to face him alone—until Ruhn refuses to leave her side. The confrontation turns devastating as Tharion is shot, Lidia begs Pollux to spare her children, and Ruhn declares Lidia his mate, offering his life for her sons and telling her he loves her before shutting her out completely.

This week we're discussing chapters 88 through 90!  We launch straight into endgame tension as Bryce and her team slip into the palace far too easily, with Ruhn confessing his love to Lidia before they split up to find her sons. Bryce dons the Mask and animates the remaining winged souls while Hunt reclaims his Umbra Mortis armor, only for Rigelus to reveal he’s been watching them all along and has orchestrated a massive trap across Midgard and Hel. As Hel’s armies clash with the Asteri Guard, the battle turns when Bryce uses the Mask to place the souls of the Fallen into mech-suits and fallen bodies, forcing the Asteri to finally appear.

Ruhn and Lidia discover Pollux has taken her boys to the firstlight core, and in a devastating move, Ruhn shoots Lidia to stop her from charging to her death and races ahead alone. In the sky, Bryce and Hunt face the Asteri directly, destroying Polaris when the Starsword and Truth-Teller create a collapsing void amplified by Hunt’s lightning. With Rigelus still missing, the group regroups at the core—outnumbered and unsure how to win—until a sudden blast of water signals unexpected help has arrived.

As the fallout begins, the group scatters into safe houses, sharing quiet but powerful moments of connection that underscore what they’re fighting for. Elsewhere, Ithan returns to a nearly empty Den, warns the wolves to hide, and prepares to take action himself after burying the old Prime. Tharion discovers Sathia has gone to save Colin, while Ruhn and Lidia find solace together amid the guilt and grief weighing on them both. When the footage ignites chaos across the Republic, Declan uncovers the Asteri’s next move, and the team locks in a dangerous plan: distract the Asteri with Hel’s army, destroy the firstlight core, rescue captives, and strike at the heart of the empire—starting with the throne room where the Fallen wings are kept.

As tensions rise, Ruhn and Lidia finally give in to their feelings for one another, only for their fragile happiness to shatter when Lidia learns Pollux has captured her sons. In Crescent City, Hunt nearly kills Celestina for her betrayal, tearing through his halo with Helfire before Bryce intervenes, insisting Celestina must live to atone, and revealing her bold plan to use the Mask to raise the Fallen as an army against the Asteri, led by Naomi and Isaiah and housed in the mech-suits on Mount Hermon. Bryce and Hunt then reopen the Rift—this time to Hel—setting the next phase of the war in motion. Elsewhere, Ithan seeks out Jesiba to arrange a meeting with the Under-King, convinced he heard his brother Connor calling to him, while Ruhn urgently warns Bryce that Pollux has slaughtered mer and is holding Lidia’s sons at the palace, prompting him, Lidia, Flynn, and Dec to head for the Eternal City. At the Black Dock, Ithan and Hypaxia journey to the Under-King, who reveals his origins, the true nature of Urd as Wyrd—a primordial force of life—and grants Ithan seven minutes to speak with Connor, opening the door to long-buried truths and impossible hope.

This week we're discussing chapters 76 through 78! Bryce forces open a mysterious gate with Hunt’s power, only to realize it leads not to Hel but to the Fae world, where she confronts a stunned Nesta and desperately begs for the Mask. Though Nesta initially refuses, Bryce proves her resolve by offering her own parents as collateral and ultimately entrusting them to Nesta’s protection, securing the Mask just in time as danger closes in. Meanwhile, Tharion appeals to the River Queen for sanctuary, revealing Bryce’s new status as Queen of the Fae and her alliance with the Princes of Hel, and after hard truths about the Asteri and past failures, the Blue Court agrees to shelter Crescent City’s people. Back in the city, the resurrected Harpy—returned without a soul—launches an attack, but Bryce dons the Mask and commands her to kneel, granting her final rest. Together, these moments underscore Bryce’s growing power, the widening alliances against the Asteri, and the immense personal sacrifices made to save their world.

Welcome to House of Flame and Shadow by Sarah J. Maas!

This week we're discussing chapters 73 through 75! Sabine publicly denounces Ithan as a traitor, accusing him of turning Sigrid into a Reaper and presenting falsified footage, but the Prime arrives and confirms Ithan’s claims, revealing even Danika knew the truth and hoped the wolves could change. The Prime names Ithan his heir and strips Sabine of her title, only for Sabine to stab her father with the Fendyr sword, allowing Sigrid to drain his Firstlight. Chaos erupts as Sigrid kills the Astronomer and Sabine attacks again, forcing Ithan to kill her, after which the wolves—including Perry and Amelie—submit to him as their new Prime. Elsewhere, Ruhn and Lidia sneak through the city toward the Comitium, while Tharion spots imperial battleships in the Istros and sends word to the River Queen. As tensions escalate on all fronts, Bryce asks Hunt to share his power so she can open the Rift.
