Pastor Roger used that verse as a starting point for a conversation how we must be aware of our potential to do harm with our words. Human beings all have a need to communicate, but as believers we must take on the additional responsibility of not causing injury. As he continued, Pastor Roger used the words of Luke 6:45 to inspire us to the maturity to understand that "out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks."

Roger Valci, { A Steadfast Spirit }, This week, Pastor Roger follows up on his message from last week in which he discussed the impact we all can feel from a Critical Spirit. He made the point that a Critical Spirit will try to alter the God ordained path of your life, while a Steadfast Spirit will strengthen us to stay the course no matter the cost. He uses the example of David and Saul to show that even though he is being persecuted and pursued by Saul, David shows the wisdom of a steadfast spirit by placing judgment in God's hands.

He invites us to consider the harm and the discouragement that can enter our lives as a result of heeding words of unGodly criticism. Many of us have taken the Biblical message of "give and it will be given to you" and from it created "a vision to get" rather than a "vision to give." Giving the way the Bible asks us to creates many challenges within our culture. Ultimately, Pastor Roger's message guides us to see that through giving we have a chance to share in God's divine nature as a giver of mercy and grace.

Roger Valci, OPEN Heavens, The Principle of Firstfruits, 1 Samuel 1, In this message, Pastor Roger uses the story of Hannah in 1 Samuel to illustrate the principle of tithing. Hannah had prayed for years that God give her a child and she promised that if He answered her prayer, she would give her son back to the Lord. When Samuel is born, she fulfills her promise, just as the Bible shows us to fulfill that promise. She gives her first born - her first fruits - her best - back to the Lord without any promise that there would be other children to follow. In this way, she shows another key aspect of tithing: that tithing involves trusting.
