In this follow up Episode to Vanished Sense in the Satanic Panic, Athena puts some of the more "outlandish" claims of sexual abuse into context and makes the claims much easier to understand and believe. She also goes into detail about the tunnels that were cleverly hidden under the McMartin Pre-School. We also get a new name in the Vanished lexicon! Athena will be introducing the True Crime Karens. You know who you are, the people that never have anything postive to add to a discussion, the one that is ready to jump down anyone's throat at the first chance, the ones that don't actually create and contribute to the True Crime genre and just in general like to spread needless hate and trolling.

Athena tells you about the McMartin Preschool Trials and how the term "Satanic Panic" came into the collective forethought. We start this roller coaster by learning a bit about Judy Johnson, the mother who kicked off the initial investigation with police. The mother that the press lied about and still to this day, untruthfully, accuse of having severe mental illness. Just like in the Franklin Scandal and The Marc Dutroux case, the media started an active campaign of lies and slander about the victims of sexual abuse. Athena tells the story of a nationwide pedophile ring that pandered children to a cabal of the rich and powerful. The ring’s pimps were a pair of political power brokers who had access to the highest levels of our government. Nebraska legislators attempted to expose the network in 1989 and 1990, but the legislators' efforts were followed by a rash of mysterious deaths and the overpowering responses of federal and local law enforcement, including the FBI and Justice Department, which effected an immaculate cover-up of the trafficking network.

Staying with last weeks Satanic Panic theme, this week we discuss the Finders cult. We will go over what broke this case open, some of the evidence and what points to government involvement. I don't know how many times US officials have to be caught, either directly or indirectly involved in pedophile rings, before the public decides its not OK and storms town halls with pitch forks and torches.

We also talk about a leak in the Pentagon UAP report due out today June 25th. We cover a possible Israel Keyes victim who happens to be a very well known missing case. A lot of my episodes are MIA as Acast and Podbean struggle to do their jobs. I'm hoping to have it all fixed this week.
