This discussion, led by Matthew in March 2023 for our church's Paideia group, explores the idea that Christian metaphysics, especially from the Eastern Orthodox perspective, offers a more logical and unified understanding of reality than secular metaphysics. Matthew explains how Christians see nature and supernature as connected, rather than separate. He introduces concepts like deification (becoming more like God) and argues that Christian beliefs about nature have a clear purpose, unlike secular views, which often lack meaning. The discussion also highlights how both Christian and secular ideas try to explain human experience, but Christian metaphysics is presented as more rational and fulfilling.

My name is Dan Calcagno, and I’m a Christian pastor and student of the Bible who is endeavouring to create videos, podcasts, and written content about theology, philosophy, and politics.
“Variologies” is a word I came up with as name for my ministry, creating written, audio, and video content about various areas of topics of interest to me. This compound word is made up of “vari,” referring to variety, with “ologies,” denoting areas of study. It encapsulates my diverse range of interests, particularly within the realms of theology, philosophy, and politics.

Dan and John engage in a debate! Dan argues in favour of Capitalism, while John argues in favour of Socialism.
Note from Dan: Something odd happened to the audio towards the end of my presentation, and lasted throughout the rest of the episode. You might have to turn up your volume at that point.

In this episode, listen to a great presentation from Chris on Aristotle's view of "The Good," given during our Paideia Group at our church. Discover what is "The Good" and how it relates to suffering. Dan, John, Isaac, and Joanne made great comments from the audience, but please note that we did not have a mic set up for the audience comments. Therefore, we apologize for the quality of the audio during those moments.
