Dating again after divorce means you're back in the birth control business. Maybe your ex handled it before. Maybe you haven't thought about this in years. If another kid would change everything you're rebuilding, "we'll be careful" is not a real plan.
In this video, I'm going to break down whether a vasectomy makes sense for men dating again after divorce, what it actually changes, and what it doesn't.

2:16 What a vasectomy does not protect against
2:51 What actually changes sexually after vasectomy
3:36 Why confirmed sterility matters before you relax
4:28 When a vasectomy makes sense after divorce
5:22 Don't make a permanent decision out of a hasty place
❓ QUESTIONS ANSWERED
Does a vasectomy protect against STIs when dating new partners?
No. A vasectomy only prevents pregnancy. Condoms are still important for protecting against sexually transmitted infections with new partners.
Does a vasectomy change testosterone, erections, or sex drive?
No. Testosterone production, erections, sex drive, and ejaculation all stay the same. The only change is that sperm no longer enter the semen.
Are you sterile immediately after a vasectomy?
No. Sperm can remain in the reproductive tract after the procedure, so contraception is still needed until a semen analysis confirms sterility.

Most vasectomies go smoothly. But there are a handful of mistakes men make before and after the procedure that make the experience harder than it needs to be. Some of them happen precisely because everything seems to be going well.
In this episode, I'm going to walk through the six most common vasectomy mistakes we see, from choosing a physician to recovery to semen testing, so you can avoid every one of them.
⏱️ TIMESTAMPS
0:00 Getting a Vasectomy? Avoid These 6 Mistakes
0:29 Mistake 1: Assuming every vasectomy doctor is equally experienced
1:30 Mistake 2: Leaving out old injuries or surgeries
2:43 Mistake 3: Thinking feeling good means you're fully healed
3:58 Mistake 4: Assuming you're sterile because you feel normal
5:03 Mistake 5: Panicking over a first semen test with sperm present
6:06 Mistake 6: Asking the internet instead of calling your doctor
7:32 The biggest pattern behind all six mistakes
8:14 What to do to avoid these problems
❓ QUESTIONS ANSWERED
Q: How soon after a vasectomy can I stop using contraception?
A: Not until semen testing confirms sterility. Feeling recovered or having had sex multiple times does not mean you are sterile.
Q: Does it matter which doctor performs my vasectomy?
A: Yes. Experience affects how a physician handles different anatomy, scar tissue, and prior surgeries, which impacts soreness and recovery.
Q: What if my first semen test still shows sperm after a vasectomy?
A: This does not necessarily mean the vasectomy failed. Men clear remaining sperm at different rates, so continued testing on schedule is normal.

Most men think there is one green light after a vasectomy. There are actually two, and mixing them up is how unintended pregnancies happen. One tells you when your body has healed enough for sex. The other tells you when you are actually sterile, and they are not the same day.
In this episode, I'm going to explain the two different green lights after a vasectomy, why feeling fine is not the same as being sterile, and exactly what you need to do between those two milestones to avoid an accidental pregnancy.

3:29 Why you still need contraception after sex
5:28 What semen analysis actually checks for
6:04 Why some men wrongly assume they're sterile
6:20 The two green lights explained side by side
❓ QUESTIONS ANSWERED
When can I have sex after a vasectomy?
Most patients can resume sex in about 5 to 7 days once soreness and swelling have settled. This timeline depends on comfort and normal healing, not a fixed calendar date.
Am I sterile right after I heal from a vasectomy?
No. Healing means your body has recovered from surgery, but sperm already in your reproductive tract can remain for a while. You are only confirmed sterile after a post vasectomy semen analysis shows no sperm present.
Do I still need birth control after a vasectomy?
Yes, until your semen testing confirms sterility. Neither waiting a set number of days nor having a certain number of ejaculations replaces the need for testing.

We perform vasectomies every day, but there are real situations where we tell a man to wait. Sometimes he needs more time. Sometimes we need a test done first. And once in a while, the exam uncovers something far more important than the procedure itself.
In this episode, I'm going to walk through the specific situations where we tell men to wait on a vasectomy, including a real case where a routine consultation uncovered testicular cancer.

4:23 Why every patient gets examined first
5:07 When an in office vasectomy isn't right
6:00 What "wait" actually means
7:01 What to tell us at your consultation
❓ QUESTIONS ANSWERED
Q: When should you not get a vasectomy?
A: You should wait if you are still unsure about wanting biological children, if you are relying on reversal as a backup plan, or if a physical exam finds something that needs to be evaluated first. A vasectomy is meant to be permanent, so any real uncertainty is a reason to slow down.
Q: Can a vasectomy be reversed if you change your mind?
A: A vasectomy reversal is possible, but it is never guaranteed to restore fertility. It should never be the reason you feel comfortable getting a vasectomy in the first place.
Q: Is everyone a candidate for an in office vasectomy?
A: No. Men with a history of hernia repair, scar tissue, a prior failed vasectomy attempt, or unusual anatomy may need a different approach or a different setting entirely. This is why a physician examines every patient before scheduling the procedure.

If you have been putting off a vasectomy because you are afraid it will hurt, you are not alone. Men routinely tell us it took a year, sometimes two, just to work up the courage to book an appointment. Then they tell us it was so much easier than they expected.
In this episode, I'm going to walk you through exactly what happens during a vasectomy, what you actually feel, and why the fear is almost always worse than the reality.
⏱️ TIMESTAMPS

1:29 What you feel once the procedure starts
2:44 What no scalpel actually means
3:29 What being awake during the procedure is really like
4:31 What patients say right after it's over
5:10 Why the gap between fear and reality is so big
5:36 Why the consultation makes the first appointment easier
6:09 What happens right after the procedure
7:15 The honest answer to how much it hurts
❓ QUESTIONS ANSWERED
Does a vasectomy hurt? Most men feel pressure, movement, or pulling rather than sharp pain because the area is fully numbed before the procedure begins. Discomfort levels vary, but patients are in constant communication with the physician throughout so anesthesia can be adjusted.
What does no needle, no scalpel mean? No needle refers to how the local anesthetic is delivered, using air pressure instead of an injection. No scalpel refers to how the physician accesses the vas deferens through a very small opening instead of a traditional incision.
How long does a vasectomy take and how soon can I return to normal activity? The procedure itself takes about 20 to 30 minutes using local anesthesia in the office. Most patients are back at work the next day, with adjustments based on how physical their job is.

One man is back at work the next morning. Another man is still sore days later. Same procedure, different recovery. That is not random.
After more than 30,000 vasectomies, we have identified exactly three things that decide how fast a man bounces back, and one of them is completely in your control.
In this episode, I'm going to break down the three factors that determine your vasectomy recovery speed and explain what you can actually do to speed yours up.
⏱️ TIMESTAMPS
0:00 3 Things That Decide How Fast and Easily You Recover From a Vasectomy
0:20 Meet vasectomy clinics of Chicago
0:35 Factor 1: physician experience and technique
1:54 Why practices dedicated only to vasectomy matter
3:00 Factor 2: your anatomy and medical history
4:19 Why comparing recoveries to friends is misleading
4:37 Factor 3: what you do after the procedure
5:22 Physical jobs, exercise, and recovery timing
6:34 Recovered versus sterile, the difference explained
8:02 The 3 factors recap and final advice
❓ QUESTIONS ANSWERED
Why do some men recover from a vasectomy faster than others?
Recovery speed depends on the physician's experience and technique, the patient's individual anatomy and medical history, and how closely the patient follows post procedure instructions.
Does feeling good after a vasectomy mean it is safe to resume normal activity?
No. Feeling good does not mean healing is complete, and returning to heavy lifting, cycling, or intense exercise too soon can cause avoidable swelling and soreness.
Are you sterile immediately after recovering from a vasectomy?
No. Recovery and sterility are separate timelines, and sperm can remain in the reproductive tract, so contraception must continue until a semen test confirms zero sperm.

Tubal ligation or vasectomy. Most couples treat this like a coin flip, a matter of personal preference. When you put the real medical numbers side by side, one option is clearly stronger for most families, and it is not the one most people expect.
In this episode, I'm going to compare vasectomy and tubal ligation head to head on anesthesia, recovery, cost, and effectiveness so you know which one actually fits your situation.
⏱️ TIMESTAMPS
0:00 Why Most Couples Choose Vasectomy (Not Tubal Ligation)
0:57 What tubal ligation actually involves
2:04 Real risks of general anesthesia
2:57 Tubal ligation recovery and effectiveness
3:56 Tubal ligation cost breakdown
5:26 What a vasectomy procedure actually involves
6:22 Vasectomy recovery and effectiveness numbers
7:11 Side by side comparison of both procedures
7:33 When tubal ligation is actually the right choice
8:19 Semen analysis and confirming success
❓ QUESTIONS ANSWERED
Is a vasectomy safer than tubal ligation?
Yes, because a vasectomy uses only local anesthetic in an office procedure room, while tubal ligation requires general anesthesia, a breathing tube, and an operating room, which carries added surgical risk.
Which is more effective, vasectomy or tubal ligation?
Vasectomy is about 99.8 percent effective, slightly higher than most tubal ligation methods, which range from 99 percent and up depending on the technique used.
How much does a vasectomy cost compared to tubal ligation?
Vasectomy typically costs about one fifth as much as tubal ligation because it avoids operating room fees, general anesthesia, and anesthesiologist charges.

6:08 Sign 3, vasectomy is not the practice's main focus
7:19 Sign 4 and 5, growing fear and vague answers
9:07 What actually happens next
❓ QUESTIONS ANSWERED
Why do vasectomy forums seem so negative?
Men with easy, uneventful recoveries have nothing to post about, so forums fill up with the rare difficult cases while the common, easy recoveries stay silent. That makes complications look far more frequent than they actually are.
What is a semen analysis and why does it matter?
It is a lab test done months after your vasectomy that confirms your sperm count has reached zero. Without that confirmation, a man can still get a woman pregnant even after the procedure is done.
Why does it matter if a practice only performs vasectomies?
Practices that treat many other conditions perform fewer vasectomies overall, and volume drives precision in technique and tissue handling. A practice dedicated exclusively to vasectomy has refined its approach through far more repetition.

Most men say the same thing at their consultation. Their family is complete. They want something permanent. But after 30,000 procedures, we've learned that's rarely the full story. There's usually a quieter reason underneath, one most men never say out loud.
In this episode, I'm going to explain the real, unspoken reason so many men choose a vasectomy and why naming it changes what you get out of the procedure.

6:52 What changes after a confirmed vasectomy
8:09 How to say this at your own consultation
❓ QUESTIONS ANSWERED
What is the real reason most men get a vasectomy?
While men often cite family planning, the underlying driver is frequently ongoing pregnancy anxiety that has quietly affected their sex life and relationship.
Can pregnancy anxiety actually affect intimacy?
Yes. Persistent worry about an unplanned pregnancy keeps the nervous system in a low level alert state, which makes it harder to feel fully relaxed and present during sex.
Does a vasectomy improve a couple's sex life?
Many men report feeling more present and relaxed during intimacy after a confirmed vasectomy, since it removes the ongoing risk that hormonal birth control only reduces.

Most men research the procedure and never research the practice. That's backwards. The technique is standardized everywhere, so it tells you almost nothing about who is doing your vasectomy.

5:28 What a real consultation should look like
6:24 Why the pre and post procedure process matters
7:22 The exact questions to ask any practice
9:27 What to do if you already scheduled elsewhere
❓ QUESTIONS ANSWERED
What questions should I ask before choosing a vasectomy provider?
Ask how many vasectomies the practice performs each year, whether vasectomy is the only procedure they offer, and what the consultation actually involves. A practice with real depth will answer all three without hesitation.
Does the no scalpel technique matter more than the practice performing it?
No. The no scalpel method is standardized across nearly every provider, so it does not tell you anything about the surgeon's experience or how they handle unusual anatomy. The volume and focus of the practice matters far more than the name of the technique.
Is it too late to switch practices if I already scheduled my vasectomy?
No, it is not too late. Call ahead and ask about the consultation process, annual procedure volume, and follow up plan, and switch if the answers concern you.

This channel is for the man who has already made his decision. His family is complete, or he and his partner know children aren't part of their future.
But he can't seem to…
And instead of getting clearer, he's gotten more anxious. He's looking for a physician who will tell him the truth about what a vasectomy actually is, what it actually does, and what to expect from someone who has done this thousands of times.
Vasectomy Clinics of Chicago has performed more than 30,000 vasectomies across five Chicagoland locations. Their physicians (board-certified surgeons who have dedicated their practice exclusively to this procedure) have seen one pattern more than any other: the fear is almost always larger than the reality.
Nearly every nervous patient says the same thing on the way out: "That was so much easier than I expected." This channel exists to close that gap before the appointment, replacing what the internet gets wrong with what 30,000 cases actually teach you.
