Pigs are sadly widely thought about as fat, ugly, stupid and lazy. They are one of the most exploited animals and we use almost every bit of their body. On the other hand, dogs are considered smart, loyal, trainable and social.
But is this really accurate? Are pigs really stupid? How do pigs stack up from a cognition, emotion and social point of view compared to dogs? And if pigs are in fact intelligent, why do we eat them but not dogs?
We discuss all of the above questions (and more), and highlight some interesting studies that provide us with good insight.
