Today is a special episode. It's November 30th, and this marks my father's birthday. This important day started a cascade of life events to shape the world that my mom, sister, and I continue to experience. It brings a flood of beautiful memories followed by sorrow because they are now memories of a beautiful past that reside in our thoughts and actions. Every year, I take a moment to share principles, traditions, and stories that my father passed down. It continues a tradition that he would hold dear to his heart. Today this episode is in honor of my dad, who was a storyteller by heart and soul and had this ability to capture truth from experiences and express values that you would feel deep at your core.

In 1985, she fled Kosova to escape the systematic oppression because of her Albanian nationality, and while building a life for her family in the U.S., she decided to dedicate her life to serve refugees and communities in need. Our conversation begins with Sofije's upbringing, her experiences during a time of oppression, her period of life where she dedicated to helping refugees escaping genocide, and her reflections of life lessons after seeing the best and worst of human beings.
