Artisan Dub Soup I

This is the 1st of a new series of guest mixes to concentrate on the textures and flavours of dub techno. The sounds and genre will always have a place on this cloud but, remarkably, I have never curated a dedicated series. I look ahead to sharing recordings from friends and producers from its community in the months ahead.

Setting sail with a gorgeous and elegantly mixed set from Armin Bender who has followed the evolution of this genre for 30 or more years. Armin is also a talented producer and previously released on Greyscale, Vuo and Splnch labels.

For HSJ 16 we're going downstairs.... to the legendary rave kitchen of Washington USA's, DC House Grooves. The renowned line is home to master-chefs Andy Grant & Katrina Mir, fine selectors and regulars on the DC club scene.

This feast of deep and full flavoured wonk was cooked up on a recent live stream for Jus Eds Underground Quality channel and listening i appreciated its alignment with Hypnotic Salad Jazz palettes.

MLD Compilation 2025 "Moments Of Light 'n Darkness"

This set brings together about three quarters of the tracks from the wonderful MLD compilation. Given time contraints I couldnt include all, but i feel this highlights a diversity of sounds and styles of music within the dub techno space that the compilation showcases. Without the artists names associated (and there are many of the genre's well know producers) the focus shifts to the music alone.

The compilation previews a live event in form of an intimate open air festival called "MLD goes live" to take place in August 2025 near Berlin. Many of the artists in that two part compilation will perform at this event – so I hope to see you all there!
