Released on this date in 1984  we had a chat this morning about John Carpenters Starman.

Answering an invitation from NASA a space being tries to contact mankind but his ship is brought down by a US missile. The so called Starman who is now stranded on earth clones a dead mans body and kidnaps his widow who he needs to help him travel cross country to rendezvous with the mother ship to take him home safely. All the while they are relentlessly pursued by the military who are intent on killing him.

The $64 million cut to education funding from 2019 is going to  affect regional WA, with many programs closed down entirely, funding cuts for some and fee hikes for others.

Six camp school sites run by the Education Department will be shut down, residential colleges in Moora and Northam will be closed and 170 jobs are set to go. 

I had chat this morning with WA National Party leader Mia Davies about how this is going to effect these students.

This morning I had a bit of a chat with Aunty Fil about the NAPLAN test results that have come out, we've fallen a bit short across the board in Aus and Aunty Fil thinks it's not the be all and end all.

We've got the big Merredin Gala night on tomorrow evening so I roped Davo on this moring for a double dose, not only did we get our regular joke from him but he let us in on what we can expect from the Christmas inspired night we have coming our way.

Had a chat with Quinny yesterday about the upcoming Christmas Carols, the Link Theatre putting on the last production of the year and also the fact that it was 'Ding-a-ling Day'.

Great to have a chat with James this morning :) We spoke about the recent high school graduation and had a debrief of the very successful evening that was Xmas on Fitzgerald for 2017.

As always, Ivo with some really valuable information when it comes to Christmas shopping.

Jim from the Merredin Mens Shed tells us how their crop came in for this year, gave a reminder of how lovely that air-con is going at the shed and let us know the train will be in full force for the kiddies come Gala night in Merredin this Thursday.
