It is Wednesday, citizens, which means Beyond the Dawn — our most acclaimed drama, and educational programming besides. This week: Vasil's dinner, at last. Nine dishes. A jelly with things inside it. The government falls before the plates are cleared, and Anselm cannot take his eyes off a cabinet. For those unable to view the instalment when it aired, I will tell you everything that happened.
Verity is a satirical fiction podcast. Beyond the Dawn is a fictional programme within it; no real country, government, or cabinet is depicted.
Good morning, citizens. Today: abroad, the homes nearest their great roads have dirty air inside them — the road comes in at the window all night and settles — so they have built a humming machine to stand in the corner and clean it, and after one month of clean air those people were thinking twelve in a hundred faster. Imagine having to pay for the air in your own room. Beside a dry lake they have found eight sets of footmarks in the ground, made at the same moment by eight who were walking together, all grown, all going the same way, and not one of them turned around. A minute from the Welcome Committee, whose chair on the southward lanes was herself re-welcomed in the spring. And then the mailbag: an attendance figure that does not exist, a Junior Correspondent who remembered a name exactly, and one letter out of the westward districts about where the kettle is. Everything is already wonderful.

Good morning, citizens. Today: abroad they have taught the shelf to think — the working-out has been moved into the place where things are kept, so the little errand that ran back and forth billions of times a day is not run at all any more. Abroad there is also a road turning one hundred, and ninety-four in a hundred of them would like to drive its whole length, stopping wherever they please, which they call the freedom of the road. This month's jar of Solution is ready at your distribution point. And then, before we part: my mother's handwriting, the notice board in our entry, and the night I held two pages up to the lamp and found one line. Everything is already wonderful.

It is Wednesday, citizens, which means Beyond the Dawn — our most acclaimed drama, and educational programming besides. This week: Marisol chooses a hat, at last. The government falls, again. And Anselm — oh, Anselm — has a second drawer. For those unable to view the installment when it aired, I will tell you everything that happened.
Good morning, citizens. Today: abroad they are lifting an enormous eye above the clouds to look outward at light so old that the things which sent it are no longer there, which makes me glad for a sun that is simply here. Abroad, a nation's breakfast has been written onto a list of things the world has agreed to protect forever — and you do not write a thing down unless you are afraid it might go. The Recreation League's fixtures went exactly as published, attendance at Gratitude Hour was everyone, and then the mailbag: two hundred and eleven letters with the same blot of ink in the same corner, a road that keeps going on an old map, and one line with no name on it that hopes somebody is making sure I eat. Everything is already wonderful.

Good morning, citizens. Today: abroad they have begun sending the parcels through the air, to nearly five hundred towns, and it never once comes to the wrong house — because somebody measured every garden and every gap between the trees first, and now they need never look again. Abroad they have also named this the year of sensation, and want food that is sour and food that cracks, which makes me think of a child holding one sweet a long while before she eats it. The Ministry of Weather finds the coming week agreeable, and the schedule is unchanged. And then, before we part: the loveliest party I ever went to — bunting in the courtyard, the good chairs carried down, and my very best friend, whose family learned they were leaving on the Tuesday after. Everything is already wonderful.

Good morning, citizens. Today: scientists abroad have built workers too small to see, thousands to a drop of water, who swim wherever the light is pointed and gather up whatever should not be there. A famous eating-house abroad has closed for improvement, its thousand faces taken down off the walls and kept, and the people there will wait until autumn for a room. Piri Orle, age nine, has earned her Dress-Up Badge, and her own mother walked past her. And then our Heartwarming Story of the Week: a woman of sixty-one telephoned the Listening Line one evening with nothing at all to report, and now her whole lane telephones every evening at seven. Everything is already wonderful.

Good morning, citizens. Today: researchers abroad have reviewed three hundred and fifty studies and discovered that eating less may make a body last longer, which is where your breakfast has been sitting all along, and the Ministry of Nutrition has a kind word for anyone found eating something else. A study abroad followed children for eight years and found that the ones who watched the most thought the most clearly, a thing we settled here long ago. Attendance at Productivity Hour was one hundred percent and attendance at Gratitude Hour was everyone. And then the mailbag: a floor that is quiet now all the way up, a citizen who has said it along with me four thousand one hundred and six times, and a drawing with one empty chair in it. Everything is already wonderful.

Good morning, citizens. Today: scientists abroad have opened up the ageing brain and found that it was never sealed in the first place, which I think is marvellous news. Abroad they have also made a film in which an entire street is taken somewhere else overnight, and they queue up to watch it, and the part I would keep is that the neighbours go together. The Bureau of Keeping has confirmed that four hundred and nine misplaced items are safe, including a child's tooth. And then, before we part, my Name Day — the morning in a hall when a woman I had never met read my name off a small white card and handed it to me. I still have the card. Everything is already wonderful.

Good morning, citizens. Today: in several nations to our north the sun went out for two minutes, and people travelled enormous distances to stand in a field and watch it happen, and then they applauded. Abroad, travellers have begun visiting grocery stores on purpose and photographing the shelves. The Welcome Committee re-welcomed two homes on the eastward lanes — one had planted something. And then our Heartwarming Story of the Week: a girl of eleven asked the Department of Hearts for one breakfast with her mother, and the Department, which reads generously, gave her every breakfast for the rest of her life. Everything is already wonderful.
