1 Samuel 19: the continued decline of Saul's mental health. The rise in David's role as the next King. Jonathan who is an incredible example of friendship and peacemaker.

Today's message takes a look at the necessity of gratitude in our life and what are the signs of Jesus coming. Spoiler alert... not what you think!

This episode deals with the jealousy and paranoia that Saul demonstrated toward David. We also see the beautiful way Saul's son Jonathan properly acknowledged David's ascension to the throne of Israel.

In Luke 17:1-10 Jesus teaches that temptations to sin are inevitable, yet severe judgment awaits those who cause others—especially the vulnerable—to stumble. He commands rebuking sin and forgiving repeatedly as we pursue reconciliation. Mustard-seed faith suffices for obedience. As unworthy servants we fulfill our duty without seeking praise or reward.

Luke 16

The parable of the rich man and Lazarus.

In 1 Samuel 16 God rejects Saul and sends Samuel to anoint David, Jesse’s youngest son, as king. God looks on the heart, not outward appearance.

In the second half of the chapter The Spirit leaves Saul and rushes upon David. Tormented Saul later brings David to play the lyre, unknowingly hosting his successor. Serve faithfully.

In Luke 16:16-18, Jesus declares that the Law and Prophets ended with John the Baptist, after whom the kingdom of God is preached. John pointed to Jesus as the Lamb of God. Jesus affirms the Law’s permanence and teaches that divorce and remarriage constitute adultery, calling people back to God’s original design for lifelong, one-flesh marriage rooted in Genesis 2.

Jesus told a story about a dishonest manager who cleverly made friends before losing his job. Jesus said we should use money wisely to help others and prepare for heaven. Be faithful in small things. You cannot serve God and money at the same time. God sees our hearts.

Pastor Kenn's sermon on Luke 15:11-32 (Prodigal Son) highlights God's pursuing love for sinners. Both the rebellious younger son and the self-righteous older son are lost. The Father runs to welcome the repentant with full restoration and joy. The gospel offers hope: no one is too far gone, and no one is good enough without grace.
